1. The photographic policy for the Royal Navy, the operational sponsorship of the RN
Photographic Specialisation and the maintenance of photographic standards is the
responsibility of the Assistant Chief of Staff Carrier Strike & Aviation (CSAV). Fleet
Photographic and Image Analysis Officer (FPIA) is responsible for ensuring all necessary
photographic support is available to meet the RN’s requirement for photography, this
includes: Operational tasking, weapon serials, trials, exercises, intelligence and media
training, full details are contained in the BR 870 Manual of Naval Photography.
(1) Ensuring air camera magazines are loaded and unloaded correctly.
(2) Providing instruction for aircrew in photography and assisting briefings
when required.

6. The Fleet Submarine Flotilla Photographic Warrant Officer and his staff are required
to go to sea in submarines in the course of their duties.
