Seeking films that consume me; that I can’t help but dream about

What I do
I really love to lose myself in the production of filmmaking. I don’t want to make
just another technically impressive feature that never makes it onto the map. On
location, I am immune to stress, and always like to be inventive and enjoy myself.
I don’t want to make something that’s already been made. I love to understand a film and identify with it.
I like to get really stuck in, getting my hands dirty in all aspects of early preproduction as a DOP should.
Drawing up storyboards and location recces are important inspirational processes for me, as are auditions and
getting to know my directors.

I like variety in cinematography, as I do in narrative. My favourite dramas have a touch of every single genre,
and the visual style should also have the flexibility to reflect the very different pacing and mood of the story.
My philosophy is that the visuals need to be loud and grab your attention sometimes and at other times, be
subtle and allow other aspects of the production take centre stage.

Some areas of experience: Extreme slo-mo (Phantom), RED, f900, etc, most major 35mm adapters, 10k
lights, 3-phase, underwater, Steadicam & jimmy jib operating, dollies, pantograph lighting.
I have excellent technical understanding of digital cinematography, but value more my creative approach.

I’ve worked in camera and lighting under Eric Maddison, Nigel Kinnings, Barry Gross, David
Beaumont, Kevin McMorrow, Sam Alberg, Nic Schroder, Robin Brown, and many more.
