What is a community organizer? A community organizer is similar to a coach for an

athletic team, community organizers are responsible for building a group of people or institutions to
works towards a common goal through collective action. They facilitates the process and provides
information that could be used as input for planning. The output of the process would include strategies
and action plans, series of activities for organization development, capability-building and resource
management.

Effective community organizers are good at their jobs and respected by the people they
work with. They are responsible, trustworthy and compassionate. They are also a good listener and they
have the trust of their co-workers. Their opinions carry weight. When they offer advice, people listen.

If I can be a community organizer, I see myself leading and providing a systematic

approach to action planning. I will focus more on what other people say and listen to their suggestions.
Being a community organizer can be challenging yet rewarding career.
