INTRODUCTION

PURPOSE:

The main purpose of this software is maintaining the detail records of the students
of Concern College and departments in the hostel. The operations like admissions records
of students of Concern College, and reporting time of the students, departing time of the
students, facilities provided by the hostel to the students like library, study room, study
materials like newspapers, weekly , monthly yearly magazines.

DOCUMENT CONVENTION:

In this project documentation section we are using font style as Times New
Roman and font size 12, heading size 14, main headings 20. And using borders and
shading. We are using header and footer for user appearance. We are highlighting the
headings using clips.

INTENDED AUDIENCE AND READING SUGGESTION

This document is meant for reading for lecturers, students, project managers, in
charge of project manager, external faculty from university who will examine our project
for the partial full fill ment of MCA IIIrd semester, for reference to the library for the
future use. It can be easily understood by anyone of the graduate students.

PROJECT SCOPE

The Software we are developing for HOSTEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM for a

hostel manager. For smooth and efficient way of maintaining the documents and records
of the students, and avoiding the distracting of information, for easily verification of
records of students in the future course of action.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

PRODUCT PERSPECTIVE

This software follow-on member of a product family, existing system is, in hostel
they are maintaining the records manually in that man power requires more, to replace
the existing system we are introducing this product. There is no component large in size it
is user friendly, this software functionality is very good compare to the existing one.

OPERATING ENVIRONEMENT

This product will operate on Windows 9X operating systems which aids to the
user to use with friendly feeling. Requirement of hardware devices for this software is
color Monitor,keyboard, HDD (min 10GB recommended), what are the requirements for
running windows system normally all the hardware devices here to necessary.

ASSUMTION AND DEPENDENCEIS

This software assumed to be run in windows platform beacause it is being

developed using VB.NET and SQL server 7.0, if the system do not have the aql server
software installed then this HMS software will not work as it needs backend to
taransform dat from front end to the data base. It is dependent software it will only run on
windows platform.
SYSTEM FEATURS

 This software makes the user to store the details of student in data base and easy
to retreive the data whenever neccessay.
 This product has the highest priority we can say because it is going to a good
product according to us.
 User should login this software,to use this. It can be used by only one person
called manger to enter the student records etc.
 It’s validation is done standardly as it looks very impactive system product.
 It design is god looking.

The logical interface between software and user is Vb.Net ,This VB.Net contains
some forms need to design, The use dos not need to installl vb.net in their system its
atomatically installs the environment this priduct will going to work.
