Cylinder wires
As we use high-grade, micro-alloyed steel qualities,
our cylinder wires stand out on account of their
long service life and at the same time low mainte-
nance expenditure. Precision in manufacturing and
optimised tooth geometries guarantee a substan-
tial reduction in neps and dirt particles.

TCC cylinder wires are also available in NovoStar

quality (see special brochure) for special require-
ments with regard to a high card production and
simultaneous long service life.

Doffer wires
TCC doffer wires excel particularly in safe running
properties with a high level of production. A spe-
cial surface quality prevents the accumulation of
foreign particles in the wires.

Side grooves on every tooth ensure safe web

guiding. The risk of damage is lower because these
doffer wires are run at a higher distance from the
cylinder than usual.

TCC doffer wires are universally applicable and

maintenance-free.

Licker-in wires
A long service life is achieved by using special
steel qualities. TCC therefore uses only the particu-
larly high-grade NovoStar steel quality for the
licker-in wires.

Based upon this, optimised tooth geometries

adapted to the raw material and to the licker-in
arrangement ensure a gentle pre-opening of
the fibre material.

TCC licker-in wires are available as interlinked

wires and for mounting in grooves.

 Flat tops
TCC-TOP flat tops: foundation and hooks make
the difference
Flat tops mainly consist of the foundation and
of the hooks. Both of them have an enormous
influence on carding quality.
We use a “multi-layer foundation” in the web con-
struction, with the covering layer always consisting
of a permanently elastic natural rubber. A foun-
dation consists of up to seven single layers that
are constructed like a sandwich.

The constituted wires of micro-alloyed steel are
additionally hardened by TCC. Computer-optimised,
biconvex wire cross-sections and the special geo-
metry of the points (only half as wide as a cylinder
wire point) reduce wire movement during the
carding process. This prevents excessive breaking.
Quality right from the start
Apart from the quality of the foundation and of
the hooks, the careful manufacture of the flat tops
is important, of course. This starts with the
so-called setting, i.e. inserting the hooks into the
foundation.
Precision from grinding to finishing
After the setting procedure, the time-consuming
grinding procedures are carried out. First, the sur-
faces of all hooks are levelled in consecutive work-
ing steps. Then side grinding is effected using spe-
cial grinding elements to make the hooks as small
as possible in the carding direction. The next grind-
ing process forms the back of the wires. This is
called back grinding. Finally the surface is refined.

Three grinding

All TCC-TOP flat tops are hardened at the tips of

the hooks. This prolongs the service life and keeps
the flat sharp for a longer time.

Flat tops are also available in NovoTop quality (see

special brochure) for particularly high requirements
regarding card production with simultaneous extra-
long service life.

Of course, TCC offers all the necessary flexible

fillets for stripping and cleaning rolls, too.

 Carding segments
Carding segments: uncompromising quality
Truetzschler carding segments – also called station-
ary flats – are manufactured from a special steel of
NovoStar quality only. It is at the carding segments,
particularly in the pre-carding zone, that the highest
forces and thus the highest wear of the wire.
For this reason alone ”standard qualities“ are out of
question for TCC. We focus on a longer service life,
constant quality and a reduced maintenance cost.

Optimised geometries for optimum production
The high card production levels that are possible
today have been attained last but not least by a
higher number of stationary flats and by the devel-
opment of new wire types. Here on the one hand a
good retention of the fibres must be ensured, but
on the other hand the carding segments must not be
clogged. Both aims are achieved by optimised
geometries.
TCC offers a wide range for equipping the segments
with wires. It lies between 90 and 640 ppsi
(14 - 100 points/cm2).

Numerous variations and durable sharpness

Carding segments are not only used in the pre- and
after-carding zones of the main cylinder, but also
at the licker-in rolls. In combination with most
different types of cards and clothing finenesses,
this results in a multitude of variants.

The wires of the carding segments are not

reground, therefore tight manufacturing tolerances
are so much more important. This precision must
also be maintained after mounting the wire on the
respective card-specific support.
