RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

M.Sc Project:
As a part of the academic curriculum undertaken a project entitled A complex protein fraction
SF2 isolated from Sesbania grandiflora down-regulates the phosphorylation of Akt, a key
regulator of apoptosis, in colon cancer cells from Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology,
Thiruvananthapuram under the guidance of Dr. Ruby John Anto.
During the project I have got experience in animal cell culture techniques, protein purification
techniques, MTT assay for cytotoxicity, western blotting and autoradiography.
RESEARCH INTERESTS

I would like to work in research environment where the medical, physical, chemical, biological
sciences and the engineering meet together. I am very much interested in the field of tissue
engineering. Designing and fabrication of polymer based and composite scaffolds for tissue
engineering and its invitro/invivo implementation is the specific interest. Bone and cartilage tissue
engineering is the major area of interest. I am also interested in the designing and fabrication of
polymer biomaterials, hydrogel based wound dressings and controlled drug delivery prostheses,
biodegradable sutures, application of nanotechnology in drug delivery and treatment (Nanoshells,
PLGA based drug carriers) etc. I am also interested in the Bioprocess technology especially in the
design of pilot fomenters, Genomics and proteomic research etc.

 Presented a paper in a “state level seminar on technology of organic farming for rural
development” organized by Department of Botany, Alagappa Govt Arts college, during
September 25, & 26, 2008 and achieved first place.

 Presented a paper in a national level symposium on “Bringing Revolution in Bioinformatics”-

motif’09, organized by Department of Bioinformatics, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore,
Tamilnadu on 17th September 2009.
