Ferm-O-Tide is derived from the co-product after extraction of

heparin from porcine intestinal mucosa for the human pharmaceutical

industry. It is a highly soluble and digestible protein source, and is
ideally suitable to replace or compliment spray dried plasma for early
weaning pigs or high quality fish meal for growing-finishing pigs,
lactation sow, turkey, broiler and aquaculture.

CONCLUSION
 Overall (d 0 to 32), pigs fed Fem-O-Tide in both phases have improved
(P<0.05) ADG compared to pigs fed with fish meal and tended to have
improved (P< 0.10) ADG compared to pigs fed with the control diet.
 Pigs fed Ferm-O-Tide improved growth by 4.5% over pigs fed Spray Dried
Plasma.
 There were no differences (P>0.10) in ADFI.
 Pigs fed Ferm-O-Tide in both phases have improved (P<0.05) F/G compared

CONCLUSION
 Porcine Peptone and Ferm-O-Tide can be an alternative protein source to
totally or partially replace spray dried plasma in the weaning pigs diets
without sacrificing growth performance in weaning pigs.
