Asimismo es comtin encontrar protecciones y consolidaciones superficiales, con resinas sint y ceras a elevadas concentraciones, que se aplican con el fin de ocultar el auténtico estado de cin de las obras, falseando la estética original. A esto afiadimos la problematica de los anti- encolados, realizados con adhesivos poco reversibles, ya oxidados y que hacen peligrar seris- te la estabilidad de las piezas. Finalmente son habituales las reintegraciones volumétricas y cromé- que no contemplan los actuales criterios de conservacién y restauracién, como el uso de mate- les poco adecuados que recubren no s6lo las lagunas sino incluso grietas y partes de original. Con comunicacién pretendemos dar a conocer cual ha sido la historia de la restauracién en el Museo, Ja diversidad de tratamientos empleados sobre algunas colecciones y la problematica que presentan ‘estas piezas en la actualidad. ABSTRACT Many objects that arrive at the Restoration laboratory of the Prehistory Museum have already undergone some kind of intervention. In the majority of cases we deal with ceramic objects and metals previously cleaned or reconstructed by the archaeologist in order to facilitate their study. But in many cases we deal with the ancient methods of restoration carried out in accordance with the criteria typical of the epoch which from the scientific point of view needs to be revised. Within the most significant examples we can cite the aggressive processes of cleaning which not only caused the loss of decorations, but also the appearance of very negative side effects. Likewise it is common to find protections and superficial consolidations with elevated concentration of synthetic resins and waxes applied in order to hide the authentic state of conservation of the objects falsifying their original aesthetics. Furthermore we must mention the problems of the objects joined together with already oxidized and almost irreversible adhesives which seriously threaten the stability of the objects. Finally, we frequently deal with volumetric and chromatic reintegration that does not meet the criteria of conservation and restoration as well as the use of inadequate materials that fill not only * Restauradoras del Museo de Prehistoria de Valencia.
