Job Description
MAIN DUTIES
● Must have skill sets are Google Admin experience, Active Directory/Group Policy, MFD’s, Papercut,
Sophos antivirus.
● Likes are VOIP, Veeam, VMware, SCCM, Silverpeaks.
● Provide support, maintenance and installation services for the local IT hardware and services
● Assist with the design, specification, installation, configuration and on-going maintenance of client
desktops, mobile computer systems and servers.
● Responsible for a wide range of technical duties associated with the computer network and
desktop services.
● Liaise with 3rd party suppliers in relation to fault diagnostics and rectification of IT systems. To
monitor the performance of suppliers and contractors who provide hardware or services to the
organisation
● Monitor the performance of hardware and software both to evaluate their on-going suitability
along with identifying any recurring problems, and provide appropriate feedback/reports to
Management, senior staff .
● Monitor the use of software to ensure all usage adheres to license policies and the software is
appropriately supported and GDPR Compliant.
● Assist the IT Services Helpdesk by completing tickets assigned within a certain SLA.
● Maintain documentation of all systems, Update SOP’s for services and operating environments
● Ensure all local IT infrastructure is well maintained and organized
● Maintain asset registers for all hardware

● Understand the importance of providing high quality IT services to assist the academic objectives
● Ability to communicate efficiently and confidently to both academic staff (at all levels) and students
● Ability to take a long-term view and assist with the development of strategic plans.
● Ability to analyse issues, make informed judgments and take appropriate actions whilst under
pressure
● Ability to maintain a positive and helpful attitude towards work and colleagues
● Ability to provide guidance and coaching to others to enable achievement of objectives
● Ability to supervise others and to empower them to undertake tasks
● Willingness to perform above and beyond normal expectations when necessary
● Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, identify new approaches and question traditional
approaches and assumptions
● Ability to identify and meet the needs of internal customers .
● Own transport required due to the requirement to attend multiple sites. Clean driving License.
● An awareness of ITIL best practise guidelines
The key tasks outlined above are generic to the role of Senior IT Technician. In addition, you will be
expected to undertake the specific tasks as outlined by the Line Manager.
