Objective: This calculation presents design check of tie beam for bent king post at section Aii (waste water
sump area)
Design Forces:
; Maximum axial force of king post after removal of S2; P = 228 kN
; Accidental Load; Pacc = 50 kN
; Total Load; Ptotal = P + Pacc = 278 kN

; Restraint force; Pres = 2.5 % × Ptotal = 7.0 kN

Assuming all the king posts ecc to be 1.5m,

; Horizontal force due to ecc; Pecc = Ptotal / cos(atan (1.5m / L)) × cos (atan(L/1.5m)) = 33.1 kN

Assuming total of 10 numbers of KP tie to roof slab (2 tie beams per KP),

Assuming all the horizontal force of tie beam transfer to the last bay of king post, which is casted into the
roof slab, there will be a direct horizontal force to king post in minor axis. This bending moment will be
