ROLL NO. 100

ANALYSIS

This is a case study showing three women, three different occupation and facing gender issues
Wilma is a 25 year old lady who is working from last 8 years as a housekeeper at Aavani vaidaya’s
house who needs 30000 as she has to give to her husband so that he stops nagging her . This implies
India is a traditional country and there is diversity in religions, culture and customs. Role of the
women in India mostly is household and limited to domestic issues. Avani in confusion as whilma
had already borrowed Rs. 15000 and now she needs more money which is a big amount and she is
also in a confusion that she her husband will allow this outflow of money or not but on the other
side avani being a women is understanding that whilma ‘s situation somewhere but still as she has
her mother rushing around making a big issue of how can this stew be made without ginger

Aavani had resigned from Crafters India as director of marketing; a decision that was made in
loneliness most of the time she keeps silence and does not speak for herself or does not tale her
stand as she thought that whenever she tries to express her inner feeling or thoughts it takes into
different shape due to gender discrimination and being a women so it is difficult to justify her
thoughts and expressions so she chooses the silence like many other Indian women do.

Awani was searching for her identity , seven years of being associated with crafters as its founder
employee and marketing director, she was always suffering with anxiety , she left her position and
while leaving the job she was questioned by her MD that weather she is leaving a job because she
actually wants to take care of her daughter or because her was unsufferable because she justified
had to take care of her daughter Tara as her daughter needs more care at that time. She was also
upset as she had hoped the MD would intervene, he didn't. She has spent the last several months
coming to terms with all this. The grief of losing some-thing you built, the angst of dealing with an ill-
mannered boss, the conflict of realising that your MD let her down is very depleting. According to
Avani Crafters needs a person with h man qualities. According to kavita women should not sacrifice
her carrier as she can manage her work and personal life altogether . According to Braham Menon
There is the anxiety that women resources are a cost and this is applied blindly to all women
regardless of effort, contribution and commitment. According to damini Damini: The fault lies with
HR and the men in senior management who coast through life unseeing of differences. If women
cross the threshold to the workplace, organisations must train and equip themselves for the
women's induction into the workplace. This the most valid point she made out of the whole
conversation as Work – life balance for women is now becoming an important topic of discussion,
as it is women who are required to attain this balance in their lives more than their male
counterparts and moreover, it has become the need of the hour. This is said so because the so-
called society thinks that it is primary responsibility of women to raise and take care of the
children, do the household chores, take care of the in-laws/parents and if she is working then it
means that she herself is looking at some additional responsibilities to be taken care of by her
own will. This case study throws light on various gender inequality and work life balance issues
and challanges women faces and opinion of different women on different situations .
