3.11 Memahami pentingnya tanah dan
organisme yang hidup dalam tanah untuk
keberlanjutan kehidupan
Persentase
komposisi tanah
Komponen tanah
• Soil comprises four distinct components—
inorganic mineral particles (which make up about
45% of a typical soil), organic matter (about 5%),
water (about 25%), and air (about 25%). The
plants, animals, fungi, and microorganisms that
inhabit soil interact with it, and minerals are
continually cycled from the soil to organisms,
which use them in their biological processes.
When the organisms die, bacteria and other soil
organisms decompose the remains, returning the
minerals to the soil.
• Ketika organisme mati akan didekomposisi
menjadi mineral dalam tanah.
• Tanah yang bervariasi mempunyai mineral
yang berbeda dan karakteristik kimia yang
berbeda karena tanah berasal dari weathering
process of the rock.
• The inorganic mineral particles, which come
from weathered rock, provide anchorage and
essential minerals for plants, as well as pore
space for water and air. Because different
rocks consist of different minerals, soils vary in
mineral composition and chemical properties.

Rocks rich in aluminum form acidic soils.
