GUIDELINES FOR ALL POSTGRADUATE APPLICANTS

You are required to carefully read the following guidelines before filling in the application form for the
postgraduate programme:

1. PROGRAMME APPLIED FOR

You are advised to check the list of programmes that we offer with the mode of programme and
specializations on the website of the respective kulliyyah/institute or in the CPS
prospectus/leaflet/brochure before filling in the academic programme that you are applying for, to
ensure that you choose the correct name of the programme. Alternatively, you can also refer to the list
of programme attached.

2. PERSONAL DETAILS

You are required to complete all personal details as stipulated in Section B of the application form
particularly your name, postal address, telephone number, religion and madzhab and email address.
This will help to ensure a correct and quick response from the CPS.

3. ONE APPLICATION FOR THREE ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES

You can only apply for three academic programmes on one application form. Although there is no
limitation on the number of application forms that you can submit, you are allowed to register for one
academic programme only upon enrolment.

4. CHANGE OF ACADEMIC PROGRAMME

You may apply to change the programme chosen earlier by sending the application by letter to change
your programme of study indicating the new programme and your reasons for applying.

However, if you have already registered in the programme and decided to change to another
programme, you are requested to submit a duly completed “Application for Change of Programme”
form to the CPS.

5. ORIGINAL AND TRANSLATED VERSION OF ACADEMIC CERTIFICATES

To ensure prompt evaluation of your application form, please submit certified copies of your academic
credentials. If your certificates are in a language other than English and Bahasa Melayu, an English
version translated by a certified translator is required. Please note that an application that is not
completely filled in and is not accompanied by the certified true copies of all certificates/relevant
documents will not be considered.

6. DEADLINE FOR EVERY INTAKE

The deadline for submission of admission application forms for all international applicants is as
follows:
SEMESTER / INTAKE TIMEFRAME / DEADLINE
First Semester / June 2nd January until 1st March

Second Semester / November 2nd March until 1st August

Third Semester / April 2nd August until 1st January


Any application forms received after the deadline will be processed for the next intake. However, in the
event that your application is submitted after the deadline for the particular intake and you would like to
register in the said intake, you have to proceed to the International Students Division (ISD) for student
pass preparation. The university will not be responsible for any charges imposed upon you by the
immigration department or any other parties for the purpose of issuing and releasing of your pass.

Please be advised that the third semester is meant only for the following applicants:
• Students who are required to do the language programme
• Programme with research only mode

The third semester is also known as the short semester and comprises only 7 weeks of studies.

This deadline, however, is not applicable to:


• Malaysians, and
• Former IIUM international students whose student passes are still valid until admission into the
postgraduate programme

7. PROGRAMME APPROVED FOR ADMISSION

The university reserves the right to approve your admission into a programme that is academically
suitable for you.

8. CHECKLIST AND DOCUMENTS NEEDED

Please follow the checklist on the application form meticulously so as to ensure that all information /
documents required are completed / submitted. Incomplete application form will not be entertained.

9. GRADING SYSTEM

Please ensure that your academic transcript contains the grading system used to enable us to evaluate
your academic qualification.

In the event that the mode of your previous degree is by research only, please provide a certification
letter from the university indicating that the mode of the programme is by research and hence no CGPA
or % is applicable in the full academic transcript.

10. PROCESSING FEE

Non-refundable application processing fee of USD 25 (applicable to international applicants residing


outside Malaysia) OR RM 75.00 (applicable to Malaysian applicants and international applicants
residing in Malaysia) in a form of money order/bank draft/postal order payable to the Executive
Director, Finance Division, International Islamic University Malaysia. Cash or personal cheque is not
accepted. Application forms that are sent without the processing fee will not be processed.
This section is to be signed by International applicants as stipulated in guideline no.6.

AGREEMENT FOR JOURNEY PERFORMED VISA

Based from the guidelines stipulated, I agree and I am willing to bear the Journey Performed Visa
charges amounting to RM600 since I submitted my application form after the deadline for the intake
and would like to register in the said intake.

CHECKLIST
Please submit all the following items along with the completed Application Form to ensure that your
application is complete and can be processed for admission. Please tick ( √ ) in the appropriate boxes to
indicate items that have been attached.

i. Non-refundable application processing fee of USD 25 or RM 75 in a form of money

ii. Four (4) passport size photos 5.5 cm X 4 cm

original is written in any language other than Bahasa Melayu

viii. Documentary evidence of the applicant’s ability to cover tuition, accommodation, food, medical
and other expenses for the total duration of the programme;

viii. Any other relevant documents/professional qualifications

REMINDER TO ALL APPLICANTS

If you would like to apply for postgraduate programme, make sure that you
submit a complete application form. The Centre for Postgraduate Studies
(CPS) will not accept your form if:

 It is not accompanied with processing fee


 Incomplete document as per stated in the checklist

We will only entertain complete application form for admission into a


particular intake.
