Johnson
Announces
Bid
for
Re-Election
Wilton,
NY
–
Supervisor
Art
Johnson
announced
his
intention
today
to
continue
serving
the
residents
and
families
in
the
Town
of
Wilton
as
their
Supervisor.
During
his
years
as
Supervisor,
and
before
that
as
the
Deputy
Supervisor,
Town
Councilman
and
Town
Assessor,
Johnson
has
constantly
worked
towards
the
goal
of
making
the
community
a
prosperous
place
to
live.
“It
might
sound
simple,
but
I
really
just
want
to
continue
to
do
what’s
best
for
the
residents,”
said
Johnson.
“I
enjoy
working
for
the
community
and
I
put
in
all
my
effort
to
make
this
a
great
place
to
live
and
raise
your
family.”
Through
sound
budgeting
principles,
and
without
any
loss
of
necessary
services,
Johnson
has
maintained
Wilton
to
have
no
local
taxes
(general
and
highway
fund).
This
accomplishment
started
with
former
Supervisor,
and
now
State
Senator
Roy
McDonald,
and
has
continued
for
the
past
29
years.
Wilton
is
widely
recognized
as
one
of
the
lowest
taxed
towns,
in
the
lowest
taxed
county
in
New
York
State.
Quality
growth
has
been
a
trademark
of
Johnson’s
tenure,
increasing
the
tax
base
while
balancing
the
quality
of
life
Wilton
residents
have
come
to
expect.
Johnson
has
invested
in
the
future
through
the
expansion
of
youth
programs
at
the
Gavin
Park
complex
and
preserving
open
space
with
the
Wilton
Wildlife
Preserve
&
Park
while
also
continuing
to
provide
new,
necessary
services
to
residents.
Planning
for
tomorrow
and
generations
to
come
is
the
current
approach
for
Johnson,
who
has
put
Wilton
at
the
top
of
the
list
to
gain
spin-‐off
jobs
from
the
growing
technology
campus
and
the
GLOBALFOUNDRIES
plant
in
Malta,
with
the
exit
16
technology
corridor.
This
economic
development
project
will
provide
new
opportunities
for
jobs
and
careers
available
to
local
residents.
“It’s
vital
that
we’re
pro-‐active
in
attracting
jobs
for
Wilton
residents
through
economic
development
because
it’s
very
important
to
our
continued
success
as
a
community.
I
have
been
honored
to
serve
my
friends
and
neighbors
in
Wilton
in
these
ventures,
and
I
hope
to
have
the
opportunity
to
continue
to
do
so,”
said
Johnson.
