Application Fee
All applications attract a non-refundable application fee. Applications submitted online will cost A$75,
paper applications will cost A$100. The fee must accompany the application. You may pay the fee with a
credit card (MasterCard or Visa only) or a Bank draft (international cheque) made out in Australian dollars to
The Australian National University.
Foreign currency cheques will not be accepted.

Tuition Fees
The indicative annual tuition fees listed here are for your guidance only, as the actual tuition fee you will
pay will depend on the courses you choose and the number of units required to complete your program
successfully. Prices quoted in this schedule are for 2011 and are generally for a standard full time (48 unit) load
if you commence your program in First Semester (February) 2011 and choose courses entirely in the discipline
area of your program. For a full explanation of how tuition fees are calculated please refer to the General
Information section at the back of this schedule. (Points 1-3)
Tuition fees may change from year to year. However students continuing in their current program will have
any fee increases capped at 5% (compounded annually) of the annual tuition fee applicable in the year of
admission to the program.
Some programs have additional compulsory costs (e.g. Field trips, books, equipment). These are NOT included
in the tuition fees. More information is available from the ANU College concerned.

Payment Method
Please note that we do not accept traveler’s cheques or cheques in foreign currency. All cheques must be made
in Australian dollars only.
Note: Tuition fees do not include the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) premium.

Information for international students

Application Fee
All applications attract a non-refundable application fee. Applications submitted online will cost A$75, paper applications will cost A$100. Your application will
not be assessed until the application fee has been received. You may pay the fee with a credit card (Master card or Visa only). If this option is not available to you
for payment you may send a Bank draft (international cheque) made out in Australian dollars to The Australian National University. Foreign currency cheques will
not be accepted.

1. Unavailability of Program
If the University is unable to offer a program for which you have paid tuition fees or a tuition deposit, those fees or deposit will be repaid to you in full.

2. General Information on the Calculation of Tuition Fees

2.1 International Student Program fees listed in this schedule are indicative only and are meant to be a guide to the approximate cost of the program in which
you enroll. The actual tuition fee will be determined by the courses in which you enroll as part of your Program (see 3.1). Student tuition fees are published
on a price point basis per unit. Each course (i.e. subject or class) is made up of units. A typical course is made up of six units. You can find the exact fee for
each course at http://info.anu.edu.au/studyat.

2.2 Tuition fees are applicable for a calendar year. If you begin a program that goes beyond a calendar year (e.g. a three semester - 1.5 year program or
Summer Session (January – March) and the tuition fee rises in the new calendar year, you will be liable for additional costs. However, providing you remain
in the same program, your fees will increase by no more than 5% per year (compounded) from your year of admission to the program.

2.3 International Student Fees (except for research program fees) are set at a particular ‘Price Point’. Price Points are the cost for a single unit course. Price
points represent the actual cost to deliver a course so that you can expect the Price Points for Engineering, Science and Medicine to be higher than those
for Arts and Law. The 2011 cost to you for a normal 6 unit course will therefore range between A$2808.00 for most undergraduate Arts courses (an annual
cost of A$22464.00, assuming you only take the standard 8 Arts courses a year), to A$3,252.00 for most undergraduate Science or Engineering courses (an
annual cost of A$26016.00 assuming you only take undergraduate Science or Engineering courses).

2.4 Award programs at the ANU have a lot of flexibility and students are encouraged to take courses in other areas. You can also study in a wide range of
combined programs. Remember that you may be charged at a different rate depending on your actual course enrolment. For example, even if you are
enrolled in a BA, you may choose to study Geography. Geography is classified as a Science course and you will therefore be charged A$3252.00 for each
Geography course you take even though most of your undergraduate Arts courses will be charged at A$2,808.00 each.

2.5 International Student Fees are set each year and the University expects to publish the tuition fees for the following calendar year by no later than October
of the previous year. You should check each year to see whether there has been a change in fees for your program but whatever the change, you will not
be charged an increased fee greater than 5% in any year (compounded from the year of admission to the program). If fees are reduced, you will, of course,
pay the reduced fee. If you change your program of study, you will pay the fee for the new program that applies in that year.

2.6 If your fees are being paid by a sponsorship or scholarship which ends before your program is completed, you will become personally liable for paying the
tuition fees for the remainder of your program.

2.7 While most students are enrolled in two standard semesters (First and Second semester) or four non-standard sessions (Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring), it
is possible that coursework students may be enrolled in up to six sessions and receive an invoice for each session. The invoice schedule is normally

Summer – January, February and March

First Semester – February/March
Autumn – April, May and June
Winter – July, August and September
Second Semester – July/August
Spring – October, November and December

These dates should be seen as a guide only.

2.8 You should consult the Student Enrolment and Administrative Procedures (SEAP) Guide for information about payment dates, fees and related information
at www.anu.edu.au/sas/studentadmin/seapguide/index.php.

2.9 Every effort has been made to provide you with an accurate list of Programs. The University retains the right to amend program availability, structure and
content as necessary.

3. Students who Transfer to a New Program
If you change your program of study - for example, if you transfer from a BA to a BSc or move from a Graduate Diploma to a Master degree, or from one
Master degree to another Master degree - you must pay the fees for the new program as set for the year in which you are admitted to the program. i.e. If
there is an increase of fees for that year you will be liable for the full increase not the 5% capped fee.

4. Fee Information for Undergraduate & Graduate Coursework Students

4.1 The indicative annual tuition fees stated in this schedule are published for your guidance only and are based on you taking the normal annual (two
semester) full-time enrolment of 48 units entirely in the discipline area of your degree: i.e. only science courses for a BSc or only Arts courses for a BA. For
undergraduate students the 48 units (normally 24 units are taken each semester) are usually made up of 8 courses, each of six units. Graduate coursework
students should refer to the schedule for the unit value of programs.

4.2 If you take more than 48 units in a year, you will pay more than the indicative annual tuition fee. If you take less than the standard full-time load, you will
pay less (unless you are enrolled in a program based fee). The same may happen if you take courses from another discipline area as part of your award.

4.3 Students who undertake a full-time Summer Session as well as the standard annual two semester enrolment will probably complete a further 24 units. The
courses you take in Summer Session will be an additional cost to the annual indicative 2011 tuition fee.

4.4 A deposit for a program must be paid before an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) can be issued, unless the fees are being paid on your behalf
by a sponsor or you hold a scholarship which includes the tuition fee. You need an eCoE to apply for a student visa. The amount of the deposit will be
included in the offer letter you receive from the University.

4.5 The remaining balance of your semester fees must be paid by the third Friday of each semester, or the nominated date in a non-standard teaching session.

4.6 All students, including students from overseas, may have to pay incidental costs for their studies such as the hire of laboratory kits and the purchase
of notes and/or reading bricks. These costs are paid when they are incurred and not when your tuition fees are due. Your tuition fees do not include
living expenses.

5. Fee Information for Graduate Research Students

5.1 Research tuition fees will be payable by the third Friday of each semester.

5.2 A deposit must be paid before an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) can be issued, unless the fees are being paid on your behalf by a sponsorship
or scholarship. You need an eCoE to apply for a student visa. The amount of the deposit will be included in the offer letter you receive from the University.
You will be invoiced for the balance of the semester’s tuition fees after enrolment.

6. Visa Requirements
6.1 You are legally required to keep the University informed of your current address at all times. If you fail to do this you will be in breach of student
visa requirements.

6.2 Except in special circumstances, you are required as a condition of your visa to remain enrolled as a full time student in 100% study load. You must obtain
permission from the University to enroll in more or less than 100% full-time study load in each semester.

6.3 You must inform the Office of Policy and Regulation about any variation in your enrolment. This includes Program Leave, Program Transfer and Withdrawal.
Retrospective applications will not be accepted.

6.4 For further information please refer to “ESOS and You” available at http://info.anu.edu.au/studyat/International_Office/student_life/_esos.asp

7. Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

7.1 Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is a private health care arrangement, which helps cover the cost of medical treatments in and out of hospital, for
example if you get sick or have an accident. It is a condition of your student visa (Condition 8501) that you are covered by OSHC for the duration of your
student visa. WorldCare is the preferred health cover provider of the Australian National University; this arrangement however does not restrict you from
obtaining OSHC from a recognised provider of your choice. If you choose to select a health insurance provider other than the University’s nominated
provider (WorldCare), you must show evidence that you are covered by the other health insurance provider. OSHC must be arranged before a student visa
can be issued. It is your responsibility to make sure that you have a current health cover policy until your student visa expires. Information about the costs
and services provided by WorldCare can be obtained from www.oshcworldcare.com.au

Continuing Students (includes students who transfer to a new Program at the ANU)
1. If you are a continuing student, and withdraw from a program before the census date of the semester in which you are enrolled, you will be eligible for a full
