1. “E-Insure.com” is a new insurance company offering a variety of insurance


services to both private and public customers. Naturally security and the safety of
data and transactions is of paramount important to the company. The company’s
management group views that ultimately security can also be used as a marketing
tool to attract new customers. They have asked the eNorton, a well known
Network Security firm, to propose a comprehensive e-Security package.
As a consultant with eNorton you are tasked with the job. You need to discuss and
justify your proposal on:
a) Approaches to develop secure systems including both “Symmetric” and
“Asymmetric” measures.

secure transactions.

3. “Musicdownload.com” is a new major company being launched by MTV. The


company will be selling digital music and music accessories on-line. The
company has approached XTechnologies a Web developer company to provide an
integrated solution for them. XTechnologies has setup a technical team to start the
development work. The development team has been asked by the client to use a
formal life cycle model and write a brief report clearly explaining the design and
development phases. As the leader of the development team, you are expected to
respond to the requirement.
The report (your answer) needs to be specific explaining various proposed
solutions (including issues such as download vs. streaming etc.) and not a list
of the various stages of a life cycle model. Where appropriate, various
decisions need to be justified.

information and many governments have introduced data protection legislation to
protect consumers whose information is held on databases at many companies.
While the legislations may differ from country to country, nevertheless the
literature points out some key principles of good practice in this area.
Using appropriate examples discuss 5 principles of good practice that anyone
processing personal data must comply with.
