: ¡Felicitaciones! You just won an UNLIMITED gift card to dine at La Tasca restaurant in the DC area for
you and ten of your best friends. The only catch is that you must plan the WHOLE menu before arriving so that
the chefs at La Tasca have ample time to prepare it. You must also calculate how much the total meal will cost,
including tax and tip.Use the guided questions below to help plan the best Spanish meal for you and your friends.

you do not have your own calculator, you can use an online calculator (http://www.metacalc.com/#) to help you
make your calculations for each section. If you need extra help on this project, please see me after school or
during your lunch time.



We will have ONE day (68 minutes) in the computer lab to complete this project. After our one day in
the computer lab, you will have a WEEK of your own time to work on it. This means that if you do not use your
time wisely in the computer lab, you must gain access to the internet on your own time OUTSIDE of class.

 This is a great way to RAISE your quarter three grade before report cards come out. There are FOUR
(4) sections to this project. Simply completing each sectionneatly and completely(20 points each) will earn you a
80% (B). Answering the questions thoughtfully and mathematically and grammatically correctly will raise your
score from there.
If you do not hand it in on time, Ms. Ramirez will not have time to include it in your quarter three grade and
it will result in a ZERO as a test grade. That is why it is IMPERATIVE that you use your class time wisely and turn
this in on the DUE DATE. If you think your grade needs even a greater boost, you may complete the extra credit
option (see end of packet for extra credit)

: Display the information from this packet on a poster. If completed in a neat and timely fashion, you will earn
TWENTY (20) extra credit assessment points. On the poster you must include the following information:

iii. The name, picture (drawn or printed from computer) short description and price of at least FIVE (5) tapas that
you are ordering.

 Look up the recipe from one of the foods that you saw on the menu and make enough for the class to
sample. If there is another food item that you would like to make that is not on the menu, you must approve it with me.
This is worth TWENTY (20) extra credit assessment points. You must also let me know when you will be bringing into
class.
In addition to making the food, you must present the class with background information on the dish, the ingredients
that you used and how you prepared it. It must be written in least THREE 5-sentence paragraphs written in English. You
will be graded on grammar and spelling.

3.  Ask an older friend or family member to take you to La Tasca or any Spanish or Latin American
restaurant (Speak with me for more ideas. Chain restaurants (ie Taco Bell) do not count) and order a dish or food that you
have NEVER TRIED BEFORE. In order to gain extra credit, you must write THREE 5-sentence paragraphs (in ENGLISH)
about the food that you ate and the beverages that you ate at the restaurant, answering the questions that you see
below.You will be graded on grammar and spelling. You must also staple the receipt from your meal to this write-up. This
is worth TWENTY (20) extra credit assessment points.

a. What food/dish/ tapas did you eat? Have you ever eaten these types of food before?
b. Did you like what you ate? Why or why not?
c. What were the flavors that you tasted? Were you surprised when you tasted anything? Why or why not?
 d. Did you use Spanish with the waiters or waitresses? Why or why not?
e. Would you go back to this restaurant? Why or why not?
