Reebok and Nike are two contract manufacturing company.

Both of these companies

have some standard rules. Now we will analyze the code of conducts of both of the
companies:

1. Working Hours/Overtime:

Reebok: Reebok will seek business partners who do not require more than 60 hour work
weeks on a regularly scheduled basis, except for appropriately compensated overtime in
compliance with local laws, and we will favor business partners who use 48 hour work
weeks as their maximum normal requirement.

Nike: Contractor’s employees do not work in excess of 60 hours per week, or the regular
and overtime hours allowed by the law of manufacturing country, whichever is less. Any
overtime hours are consensual and compensated at a premium rate. Employees are
allowed at least 24 consecutive hours rest in every seven day period.

Bangladesh: In Bangladesh the normal working hour is 40 hours per week. Anything
above that is counted as extra time.

2. Forced or Compulsory Labor:

Reebok: Reebok will not work with business partners that use forced or other
compulsory labor, including labor that is required as a means of political coercion or as
punishment for holding or for peacefully expressing political views, in the manufacture
of its products. Reebok will not purchase materials that were produced by forced prison
or other compulsory labor and will terminate business relationships with any sources
found to utilize such labor.

Nike: The contractor does not use forced labor, including prison labor, bonded labor or
forms of forced labor. The contractor is responsible for employment eligibility fees of
foreign workers, including recruitment fees.
Bangladesh: In Bangladesh forcing someone to a work against his wish is a punishable
crime.

3. Child Labor:

Reebok: Reebok will not work with business partners that use child labor. The term
"child" generally refers to a person who is less than 14 years of age, or younger than the
age for completing compulsory education if that age is higher than 14. In countries where
the law defines "child" to include individuals who are older than 14, Reebok will apply
that definition.

Nike: Contractor’s employees at least age 16 or over the age for completion of
compulsory education or country legal working age, whichever is higher. Employees
under 18 are not employed in hazardous conditions.

Bangladesh: In Bangladesh child labor is illegal. The rules are not applied strictly. So
many companies use child labor.

4. Safe and Healthy Work Environment:

Reebok: Reebok will seek business partners that strive to assure employees a safe and
healthy workplace and that do not expose workers to hazardous conditions.

Nike: The contractor provides a safe, hygienic and healthy workplace setting and takes
necessary steps to prevent accidents and injury arising out of, linked with or occurring in
the course of work or as a result of the operation of contractor’s facilities. The contractor
has system to detect, avoid and respond to potential risks to the safety and health of all
employees.
Bangladesh: Here in our country safe and healthy work environment is a rare thing to
find. Most of the factories are not hygienic. And the workers there have to face a lot of
risk.

5. Non-discrimination:

Reebok: Reebok will seek business partners that do not discriminate in hiring and
employment practices on grounds of race, color, national origin, gender, religion, or
political or other opinion.

Nike: Contractor’s employees are not subject to discrimination in employment, including

hiring, compensation, promotion or discipline, on the basis of gender, race, religion, age,
disability, sexual orientation, pregnancy, marital status, nationality, political opinion,
trade union affiliation protected by country law.

Bangladesh: Any kind of discrimination is discouraged in Bangladesh. Any kind of

discrimination is a punishable act.
