ANNEXES
The disconnector is installed on an isolating structure in the testing hall, free from air currents.
The arrangement is as per the picture in annex.
In compliance with the standard only one pole of the apparatus was connected to the terminals of the 50 Hz
single phase test circuit, calibrated to supply the test current of 1600 A.
The live part is connected to a generator, supplying a direct current of 100 A. The pole is at the ambient
temperature, which is recorded. The voltage drop is measured between the HV terminals by a voltmeter. This
value is converted into μΩ.
The test consists in powering the pole at its rated normal current (Ir) and with a sinusoidal 50 Hz current. The live
part is erected in its normal service position.
The live part resistance is measured before and after the temperature rise test.
The current is maintained in the circuit till the temperature of the live part is stabilized (with the variation of the
temperature of the object smaller than 1 K per hour). At this time the temperatures of characteristic components
and surfaces are measured by means of thermocouples.
For each characteristic point, the measured temperature rise must be in accordance with the table 3 of IEC
62271-1.
The ambient temperature is recorded during the test by the mean of 3 thermocouples put in 0.5 l bottles of oil,
positioned at a distance of about 1m from the object under test, and at the same axis of the disconnector.

No temperature rise measurement exceeds the values given in the standard table. Since the resistance of the live
part has not changed by more than 20 %, the result of the test is satisfactory.
