Your model number determines what type of input you must use, T means
thermocouple, R means RTD and L means 4-20mA.
Level 3 allows you to select any of the input types listed in Table 5.1. If
you ordered a thermocouple input, only the thermocouple selections on
page 12 are applicable. If you ordered a RTD input, only the RTD selections
(dP1 through dP5) on page 13 are applicable. * If you ordered a linear
input only AN5 (4 to 20 mA) is applicable.

• Make sure the controller is wired per your model number.

HUMAN / MAN INTERFACE

Upper display: 4 digits dedicated to display the PV. In configuration

mode, this display indicates the value of the parameter or the
parameter selected.

Lower display: 4 digits dedicated to display the SP; In configuration

mode, indicates the name of the parameter.

Bargraph: The 10 green LED bargraph indicates the value of the output
in percentage.

LED’s:
OUT1: Status of output 1.
OUT2: Status of output 2.
AT: LED is on; automatic tuning of the parameters is ongoing.
AL1: Status of alarm 1.
AL2: Status of alarm 2.
AL3: Status of alarm 3.
MAN: OFF if we are in Auto mode. ON if manual mode.
PRO: Flickers when a program is running.
Continuously ON when a program is suspended.
OFF when no program is running.

SET allows the operator to change from one parameter to another. Pressing it for 5 seconds
grants access to configuration level 2 (PID prompts and the lock configuration).
Pressing first the SET, then the LEFT ARROW together for 5 seconds grants access to
configuration level 3 (input type, alarms, SP limits, field calibration, communication parameters,
…). LOCK MUST BE SET TO “0000”

Programming levels – START UP

Level 3 is the most important Level during start up because you have to
configure the controller for your input. Level 2 is the next most important
because of tuning prompts followed by Level 1. Level 4 is for turning on and
off basic controller functions. You should not have to access Level 4.

5
Configuration

In order to configure the controller you have to know the lock codes and what level
of configuration you need to go to for your application. The controller has 4
levels of configuration. The lock code, which is the last prompt in LEVEL 2,
determines what can be modified.

LEVEL 3: Input selection, control prompts and alarm settings.

LCK = 0000 to enter Level 3 (press SET + then for 5 sec.)

LEVEL 4: Set level – enable, disable basic controller configuration.

LCK = 1111 to enter Level 4 (press SET + then for 5 sec.)

LEVEL 1: Set Point, PV, Autotune, output level and program if you have the program
option.
LEVEL 2: PID tuning constants, On-Off hysteresis and deadband.
LCK = 0100 to enter Level 1 & 2 and change their parameters.
LCK = 0110 to enter Level 1 & 2 to change Level 1 parameters only.
LCK = 0001 to enter Level 1 only and change SP only.
LCK = 0101 to change any parameters except LCK.

Changing programmable values

Programmable values are any values that can be changed to meet

your requirements: for example, alarm set points and PID tuning
constants.

Press the SHIFT KEY to change the value. If the SHIFT KEY is pressed
the first digit will begin to blink. Press the UP KEY or DOWN KEY
to increase or decrease the value of this digit then press the SHIFT KEY to go to
the next digit. When finished press the SET KEY to enter the value.

Pressing the SET KEY also has the function of changing prompts. If the SET
KEY is pressed the display shows the next configuration prompt.

Press the SET KEY 5 seconds to go to LEVEL 2 and do the same to return
LEVEL 1.

7
Viewing, Changing the input type:

• Go to Level 3.
• The first prompt is inPl
• To change the input type push the Shift Key the number of
times necessary to get to the character you need to change then
push either the Up or Down Key to cycle through the
characters. When finished press the Set Key.

Example:

To change from a K1 to K4 go to level 3, inPl is set for K1. Push the

Shift Key once, the 1 will blink, then push the Up or Down Key until
the 4 appears. Press the Set Key to store the change.

To change from K1 to J2 push the Shift Key once, the 1 will blink,
push the Up or Down Key until a 2 appears. Push the Shift Key
again and the K will blink, push the Up or Down Key until the J
appears. Push the Set Key to store the change.

If you have an L in the model number input selection, which

represents a linear input, only select AN5, both the input Hi, AnH1
and Low, AnL1 values must be set.

Example:

If you have a pressure transmitter with a calibrated range of 0 to 360”

water column inPl will be set to AN5, push the Set Key to set AnL1
to 0 and AnH1 to 360.

To set the decimal point, push the Set Key to dP, press the Up or
Down Key to move the decimal point.

Setting the tuning constants:

Go to level 2
The first three prompts are P1, i1 and d1. If you decide not to do
the Autotune and you need to change the tuning parameters press the
Shift Key, the right digit on the lower display will blink, push the
either the Up or Down Key to the desired value then push the Set
Key.

Auto Tuning
Level 1
If AT is set to ‘YES’, auto tuning is performed. After the Autotune is
complete the PID values are automatically assigned to the tuning
parameters.

ATVL = auto tuning offset, it’s subtracted from the SP.

(It prevents over-shooting during auto tuning)
Ex.) SP = 200°C, ATVL = 5, Auto tuning point is at 195°C
Auto tuning failure:
ATVL is too big
ÆIf not sure, set ATVL = 0
System tuning time is too long.
Æ Set PID parameters individually.

Alarm Configuration (set point)

Level 1
Set point: Check your model number to verify the number of alarms
you have to configure. Press the Set Key to get to the alarm
prompt(s). If you need to change the alarm set point press the Shift
Key to the digit you want to change. Press the Up or Down Key to
change the digit and when you have the required value press the Set
Key.

11
Alarm Configuration (type)

Level 3
Based on your model no. you can have either no alarms or up to 3
alarms. To see how the alarm(s) is configured go to Level 3, push
the Set Key to the prompt(s) Aldl to Ald3. The bottom half of the
display, (green display), will have a 2 digit number from 00 to 19.
The type of alarm is dependent on the 2 digit number.

For example: If Aldl is set to 11 it is a Deviation High limit alarm.
