March Fellowship

Date: Mar 27, 2011 @ 2-5 PM

Place: THOB Church

I. The Need ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What’s our vision again?
To win souls and make disciples
So far we’ve been focused with fellowship activities (cellgroups; network gathering i.e.
Valentine’s fellowship)
Yes we have won souls:
Vadet (from party) and 6+ youth (from Solar Boys and Lunar Girls cell)
No we haven’t yet made disciples
So what do we do next?

Recall our objectives for the Valentine’s Fellowship

The Analogy of the Cogon Grass.
What’s the relevance of the cogon grass?
When you burn a cogon grass, it immediately bursts out into flames, a big one, but then, the
flames rapidly die out :(
Thus the term ningas kogon (sa simula lang mahusay, pero nawawala rin agad)
We don’t want to be like one, don’t we?

We need a follow through.

We need to continue what we’ve started
Our evaluations all agree that our Feb Fellowship was a success, and that it was in line with
our vision, so there’s no question we all agree that we need to do a sequel for that.

II. The Solution -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let’s make a sequel then. :)
But this time, we improve.
1. We invite.
2. We still make it simple, and this time, we stick with that plan.
3. We commit, just like before.
4. And, we start on time! Hahaha!

III. Commitment -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Again, I’m asking for your full commitment in our activity. Our Feb fellowship was a success not
because of me, but because I’ve had all of you (aww). And if you haven’t realized it yet, the activity
wasn’t much of a burden for us because we were commited to it. And so, if you are willing to
commit, pray this prayer right now as an oath to God that you will commit your all to our March
activity. Ü

Father God, here I am, making this covenant to take part in our fellowship gathering on
March 27. I commit myself to the fulfillment of this event; that I will do the tasks assigned
to me and I will work with a heart that gives glory to Your Name. Lord, help me cope with
my other responsibilities outside this activity. I believe that my service for you will not be in
vain. In the mighty name of Your Son, Jesus I pray. Amen.
IV. Details ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here’s the plan.
1. We still PRAYpare
- Prayer sparkers: Two weeks of PRAYparation thru text
- Cell leaders: Pray for this also during cell meetings

2. Objectives
- Continue establishing a monthly youth network fellowship
(I’ve added network just so we are all clear. Cell meetings are fellowship activities also but
they are not network-wide. Aside from that, cellgroups are done weekly, network
fellowships are monthly)
- Double-up in network number
(This means everyone of us must invite at least 1 person; We’re soul winning!)
- See spiritual multiplication in our youth network
(This is part of a long-term goal of course)

3. Theme and Program

The theme will be about Excellence (since it’s graduation season).
We will have three speakers who will share their testimonies on how they excelled in their
respective fields while following and serving God.
There will be group sharing afterwards.

The program will be like our Sunday service, but with a twist (food!)
i. (1.00-1.30) Set up
ii. (1.30-2.00) Registration, Prayer before start
iii. (2.00-2.20) P&W with Opening Prayer
iv. (2.20-2.30) Icebreaker
v. (2.30-3.15) Testimonies
(2.30-2.45) Student Excellence: Balancing Academics and Co-curriculars
(2.45-3.00) Young-Pro Excellence: Working in the Field while Serving God
(3.00-3.15) Youth Christian Excellence: Reaching out through Missions and Ministry
vi. (3.15-4.00) Group Sharing
Snacks will be served
vii. (4.00-4.15) Closing Activity
viii. (4.15-4.25) Offering and Announcements
ix. (4.25-4.45) Closing Song and Prayer
x. (4.45-5.00) Pack up and Debriefing

4. Delegation of Roles
- Jeng: You’re still in charge with the registration
- Kuya Kevin: You’re now in charge with the band (guide during their practices); hindi kasi
sila nakikinig kay Jem
- Camille: You’re now in charge with the program (icebreaker, group sharing and closing
activity), this means you’ll be the emcee as well. I can help you with some ideas.
- Ate Melody: You’re still in charge with the snacks
- Jem: You’re now in charge with the lyrics of the songs to be projected
- Abi: You’re still in charge with the prayer initiation
- Kuya Arnold: You’re still in charge with the technicals
- EVERYONE: We’re in charge with the decors

Since we will have group sharing after the testimonies, there we will be at least 6 guides
(one per group). What will these guides do? They will briefed later. (but not here)
Guides: Ate Melody, Jem, Ate Val, Pao, Kuya Arnold, Kuya Kevin

To those with assigned roles, please be aware of your responsibilities. I just assume that we
all know what and what not to do. Also, tell me if you are not available right ahead so that I
could assign another person.

5. Schedule
Mar 14 to Mar 19
Prayer: Initiate prayers through text
Band: Start practice on Saturday/Sunday
Invite: Start tagging friends on online invitation (I’ll make one)
Also, start inviting friends thru text, etc.
Proposal: Ice breaker, activities, group sharing

Mar 20 to Mar 25
Fasting: We will have at least a one-day fast for our evangelistic event
(details to be posted soon)
Finalize activities and group sharing

Mar 26
Band: General rehearsal
General Assembly: Assembly prayer plus briefing of Guides

Regarding our schedules, please synchronize your scheds with this one. Cell groups will still
push through, as well as our ministry works.

6. Budget
- We’ll have a contribution, around 50 pesos (I will still ask how much). This will go to the
snacks and paraphernalias for the activities and group sharing.

7. Invitation
- Again, I’d like to stress out that this is soul winning. Last time, kaya hindi tayo nag-invite
masyado dahil fellowship yun, this time, evangelistic na ito. E-V-A-N-G-E-L-I-S-T-I-C.
- Therefore, let’s not waste this opportunity and invite our dearest relatives and friends. So
I suggest, starting from now, right after we read this, we pick at least one youth who is so
close to us, send that person’s name to Abi, and we’ll altogether pray for that person.
- I don’t want to impose, ayokong mamilit, but I hope everyone of us will take this seriously.
We’ve been children of God for so long, and yet if God asks us: how many have you
harvested for me my child? we cannot answer with confidence.
- I, personally, am embarrassed with God after assessing my years of futility. All these years
I’ve been just focused on improving myself spiritually, growing my knowledge of God. But
I am breaking those years of futility now with productivity by taking the initiative to at
least invite a person through the help of the Spirit, and leaving the results to God.
- I’m not pointing fingers at any of you, because if I do not have the right to do so. But I
hope, I pray, everyone of us will just feel the spiritual discontentment of not being the soul
harvester that God designed us to be.

V. Final Words --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So there, if there’s any question or suggestion, just tell me. I really believe that if we just continue
with this, we can see a generation bowing down before Christ.

To justify some of my decisions:

Date: I picked the date because I believe there are no more classes by that time yet still the
graduation fever is still on. The time is a little bit early because some young people have curfews.
Set up: Honestly I asked God how to do it, and I was reminded that to connect with people, we need
to tell them stories wherein they can relate and they’ll be inspired (Psych101). So we are
changing the customary Message-Thru-Preaching with Message-Thru-Testimony. God can speak
to other people through our lives and testimonies. We just need to allow God to use our voices.
And the group sharing intensifies that by hearing their own stories and directing them to Christ
(it’s evangelistic nga kasi).

The idea is simple but if we do it right it will be powerful. Yet this does not go with prayer and faith.

Jesus said in John 4:38,

I sent you to harvest a crop that you did not work on.
Others did the work, and you get to finish up their work.
Honestly it’s a privilege pa nga for us to finish the work, because we get to see the results.

So yun lang. Let’s be committed and may God bless us all. Ü
