Overview:

The author of this book is: Walker, Richard. The book “Brain” is nonfiction, and gives very helpful
information on the brain to help people have a better understanding on how the brain helps the body.
The theme of the book is informational. If you want to learn really helpful information about the body
you can go to a local media center and look up “under the microscope”, and select what part of the
body you want to read about. The author of this book gives truly amazing facts about the Brain, and
describes lot of information to the reader. The author will tell you everything you need to know about
the brain and gives captions on what the pictures describe so the reader can have a better
understanding about that topic on the Brain. This author also includes pictures on every page so while
reading the reader can create a mental image in their brain so they will have more understanding of
parts of the brain.

Purpose:

The author’s purpose of creating this book is to inform the reader on the Brain, to also inform the reader
of the parts of the brain and functions, and to describe how the brain works. The author wanted to
shock the reader on some facts we would never think of our brain doing such as controlling our whole
body basically. The author did a wonderful job explaining the facts and the showing pictures that help
describe the topic.

Evaluation

Describe the book: The book is very entertaining for me because I got to learn information and very
helpful facts that I would have never expected the brain could do. I enjoyed reading this book because I
like to know what my brain does for my body, and what functions it controls. I would have never
imagined that the brain controls both sides of my body and my functions also. I only thought the brain
stores information and holds memories from the past; I also only thought the brain helps us gain
knowledge. What also surprised me is the brain is divided into two parts. I enjoy reading books that I
learn helpful information from and will benefit me in some of my academic classes.

I agree with all the information the author gives, for in order to get a book published the information
has to real. I don’t think a smart author like Richard Walker would waste his time and make up
information for other people. I really don’t disagree with any information because I don’t know that
much information about the brain and what the brain does. But after reading I gained a little more
information and knowledge about the brain. The book suggests and wants us to learn and retain all the
helpful information the book gives us. The book doesn’t specifically tell us what particles of what the
brain is made of. Such as is the brain made up of all blood or is the brain made up of meat? The book
needs to tell us so the reader will know.

Other books or internet sources will tell us what the brain is made up of, so the book is not explaining
this information readers will not want to read this book. Instead other people will want to go on the
internet in order to get all the information about the book. The only way this book “brain” affected me
was it had some pictures that look weird and nasty? Know I have learned facts so all my opinions have
been changed to facts due to reading this book. The only way it is the same with my agenda is it has
words and pages. This book can be very useful if you want to learn information about the brain.

Summary

The book Brain is a very good source to help readers learn about the brains functions and much
more. One big fact of the brain is the right side of the brain controls your left side of the body. Without a
brain no human could live. The Brain is very important to the body because it controls basically controls
all of the body functions. The brain gives the body memory and memory is where the body can
remember things you did a long time ago. I would rate the book Brain four stars because it gave me
almost all the information needed to know except for telling me what the brain is made up off.
