Unlocking Autism

Disclaimer- I am NOT medically trained. I am just a seeker of Truth in the Word of God and a person
of Prayer. This talk is only to suggest how to enter into prayer for those locked in Autism or any other
maladies in the spectrum. Please keep close to your doctor as God compliments prayer ministry with
the medical community’s help for your loved one.
I have wondered what it is like inside a person with Autism with OCD, with Asperger, with ADD.
Why do they do what they do? How do they view the world and themselves? What is all this from
their perspective. From this vantage I listen to the Holy Spirit and sense them. I try to get out of
‘my world view’ and into theirs. With this in place I next stepped into ministering to them by the
Holy Spirit unction.
I was inspired to look at physical healing simply because I was healed physically in many ways-
Fibromyalgia, migraines, arthritis, my back so bad I was flat in bed for days on end- all GONE! I
was intrigued by Henry Wright from Georgia who spoke loudly that there are spiritual,
emotional roots to disease very often. I had seen physical healings in my office, but only here and
there. I wanted MORE! If God is our Healer, why wasn’t I seeing more bodies healed? This
started me on my journey to physical health. It was after going to Georgia for training from
Henry Wright’s foundation that I came back and called a lady who had a child who was
diagnosed Autistic. I told her of my new inspiration in the training and asked her to bring her
daughter for me to minister to her……………

Autism facts
• 1 in 250 children is born with autism.
• 4 times more common in boys than girls
• 1 million to 1.5 million Americans have an autism spectrum disorder
• Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability, with 10% to 17% annual growth
• Growth comparison during the 1990s:
- U.S. population increase: 13%
- Disabilities increase: 16%
- Autism increase: 172%
• $90 billion annual cost for treatment of autism
• Cost of lifelong care can be reduced by 2/3 with early diagnosis and intervention

Classic Autism (Secular Definition)

• The prefix auto- or aut-, derived from the Greek word autos, meaning self, implies self-
centeredness. In autism, what seems like egotism is only the outward appearance of indifference
caused by a brain disorder that prohibits the sufferer from forming empathetic emotional bonds
with others.
• Autism is a devastating neurological disorder usually noticed during the developmental years
through rapid brain growth (usually occurring in the first three years of life). Autism knows no
racial, ethnic or social boundaries, and family income, lifestyle and educational levels do not
affect its occurrence. Autistic children often engage in ritualistic and self-stimulating behaviors
such as flapping arms, clapping hands or verbal noises. Many autistic children appear to be “in
their own world”.
• The behavioral syndrome of autism includes abnormalities of language and thinking skills;
repetitive behavior such as rocking; abnormal responses to sensations, people, events and
objects; and self-injurious behavior.
• Autism is a spectrum disorder1 Asperger is included. It is at the higher end of the spectrum of
Autism. To complicate matters, each case of autism has its own fingerprints; no two people are
alike. The severity of the illness has a wide range. The spectrum of this disorders includes
children at the lower-functioning, or “profoundly affected” children who at the end of the scale
who are mentally challenged, spending their waking hours in a trancelike state, mute, lacking in
any ability to empathize with or relate to people outside of themselves, and unable to function in
society. At the other end of the scale are people who have a high-functioning, well-developed
ability to use language and who demonstrate a high intelligence quotient, which enables them to
systematize their lives and find a niche in society.

The unmistakable signs of autism

in a young child
• Appears aloof; has difficulty interacting with others, some researchers call this “Mind
Blindness”- blinded to awareness of others around them
• Maintains little or no eye contact; resists cuddling or closeness
• Cries, shows distress or throws frequent tantrums for no apparent reason
• Has difficulty expressing needs; has severe language deficits
• Uses gestures or points instead of using words
• Does not respond to normal, interactive language cues
• Repeats words or phrases instead of using normal, responsive language
• Acts as if deaf, but tests normal in auditory checks
• Is unresponsive to normal teaching methods
• Is over-sensitive or under-sensitive to pain; has no fear of danger
• Has an inappropriate attachment to objects
• Insists on sameness and order, resistant to change
• Exhibits obvious physical over-activity or inactivity

What is Autism-
Looking at the Brain Function:
Imbalance of the neurotransmitters, serotonin and dopamine. There is a strong genetic component and
is marked by rapid brain growth. The usual brain weighs about 3 pounds. The brain in Autism grows
larger and is heavier. Researchers believe that this process may generate more sensory neurons than the
brain can integrate into coherent networks.
Neurons are nerve cells that transmit nerve signals to and from the brain up to 200 mph. there are about
100 billion neurons in the brain. These communicate with muscle cells, organs, glands, etc.
Imbalance Occurs-
According2 to the research accomplished by Cambridge University psychologist Simon Baron- Cohen
Autism is a imbalance between two kinds of intelligence; 1) the kind of intelligence used to
understanding people (called empathizing- to give emphasis or ‘absorption’ of one particular aspect-
i.e. emotions, movement) and 2) the kind of intelligence used to understand things (systemizing- or
systematically knowing the working details, functions, or properties).
The Problem- most have both, but females tend to have a better ability with empathizing, while males
tend to be better at systemizing. There is a belief that autism is just an exaggerated version of the male
profile- and extreme fondness for rule-based systems, coupled with an inability to initiate people’s
feelings. Psychologist Baron-Cohen, males account for 80 percent of those touched by Autism.
Unable to decode body language and sense the feelings of others, they avoid eye contact. This is why
computers are an easy thing to handle for them. Computer screens don’t have emotions. They are flat
and predictable, therefore they are easy to work with.
The other key behavior is pretend play. By that age, in normal cases, children are pretending in an
imaginative way. They’ll pick up an object and attribute properties to it that it doesn’t have; they’ll
pretend a pen is a spoon and feed themselves. In children with autism, their play is much more reality-
based. They’re interested in how things work. So if they want to play with a telephone, they’ll pick up a
telephone. Yes, but they won’t have an imaginary dialog - they’ll try to figure out what the buttons do.
In Autism the sensory preceptors are heightened to a great degree. They take in a large amount of data.
Every pore seems to bring information for them to have to work with. It has been described as their
minds being like a video, taking information in frame by frame. We see a smooth arch when an arm is
bent, they see it frame by frame. Some people who suffer with Autism are balancing information on
several levels at the same time. If you rushed at them it is the same as if a herd of elephants rushed at
them. Some have the ability to see things 3-D in their minds, turn the item around in their head and
work through all the problems to make an item work.

Spiritual Look at Autism

• II Cor. 4:7 calls us earthen vessels, important for what we contain. I can see when doing
generational family lines how God created anointings, giftings, and callings. I see how they are
poured down the generational line from parent to child. Unfortunately Satan comes to kill, steal
and destroy. He comes to twist, pervert and decimate the gifts. Satan was able to twist a
generational gifting by enticing my relatives before me into sin. Sin mars the gift and thus when
the gift is handed down the tainting remains and is also transferred along with the gift. God
created us in His image (Gen. 1:26) but Psalms 14:1-3 shows we are damaged from our original
intent through woundedness and sin, whether our sin, a sin done against me, or generational sin.
• Generational gift of intelligence that the enemy wishes to bind up to make it un-useable. Satan
will corrupt it neurologically. As a man thinks so is he. The Enemy will plant lies he carried
through the generational line to keep the family stronghold in place.
• Satan like a thief in the night comes to steal, kill and destroy. A thief that comes into your house
won’t want to steal your food in your refrigerator; he’ll go after your jewels in your jewelry
box, your diamonds, pearls, and emeralds. Satan is the same he will come after your giftings
and anointing to bind and destroy.
• The Enemy will set up traumas to set the curses in motion in a person’s life.
• Autism, Asperger (high functioning), OCD, Addictive Disorder, etc. are attacks on the gift
of intelligence. Satan will present a long series of lies and set up traumas to solidify these
lies to make them take hold and lock the person up. Through the stronghold of the lie
there are demonically induced alterations in the brain that affect it neurologically. This is
all very generational. It is a generational blessing that has been tampered with.
• Not all aspects of Autism are bad. These children are highly gifted in intelligence. In a
magazine article called “The Geek Syndrome”3 It said:
“It’s a familiar joke in the industry [in silicon valley] that many of the hardcore programmers in
IT strongholds like Intel, Adobe, and Silicon Graphics — coming to work early, leaving late,
sucking down Big Gulps in their cubicles while they code for hours — are residing somewhere
in Asperger’s domain. Kathryn Stewart, director of the Orion Academy, a high school for high-
functioning kids in Moraga, California, calls Asperger’s syndrome “the engineers’ disorder.”
Bill Gates is regularly diagnosed in the press: His single- minded focus on technical minutiae,
rocking motions, and flat tone of voice are all suggestive of an adult with some trace of the
disorder. In Microserfs, novelist Douglas Coupland observes, ’I think all tech people are slightly
autistic.”
• Fear is a big component to Autism. Safety is found in controlling situations around them. There
is a very large fear of being unsafe, thus if dealing with the things feared it can be safe… e.g.
keeping everything around them consistent, in a certain order, only familiar people in their
environment, etc.
• Over stimulation is another problem. Too much data being processed at one time without the
ability to slow down is overwhelming which can bring anger out bursts and depression.

What to do about it Through Prayer

Let the Holy Spirit be your guide here, this is ONLY a suggestion list:
“UNSAFE” is the biggest spiritual oppression you must pray to break in layers
• We want to clean off all that is negative, whatever causes a person to not be at peace with their
life, or the way they are. No matter who you are or what your problem is, the goal first and of
most importance is to draw you close to God, then to help you become at peace with yourself
and your life, to be happy and productive, that you have balance in life.
• Psychology says, “This was your past and this is what happened to you, now let’s see what we
can do to help you live with the way you are.” God says in II Cor. 5:17, “Old things Have
passed away, behold I make ALL things new.” The Bible says He makes us new creatures in
Christ. The body CAN mend, it CAN HEAL back to it’s original intent.
• We are more spiritual than physical. Ecc. 3:20, 21 “Body will go down to the dust... spirit goes
back to God from when it came”. Therefore dealing with autism spiritually is very powerful.
• Authority in prayer (Luke 9:1-2) This authority comes by being in right relationship with God.
• Power by the Holy Spirit. (John 14:12) Jesus promises that after He leaves He will give the
Holy Spirit to His followers to empower them to do even greater works than He did.
• Generational Curses--Ezekiel 18-You shall no longer use this proverb in Israel. The fathers have
eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.
• Confess Generational Curses--Leviticus 26: 37-42
• Heal trauma memories using inner healing (i.e. difficult birth, etc.)
• Minister deliverance in a gentle format
• Bind and Loose (Matthew 18:18)
• Pray over the different processes of the brain. You may wish to get a basic medical book to
know what to name and what and how to pray.
• Pray over brain function, healing of the amygdala, hippocampus, and the cerebellum
• Break ungodly vows and oaths- death wish, self hatred, bitterness, etc.
• You are a Spiritual surgeon (i.e. I pray that all miss firing of the dendrites stop in Jesus’ name, I
pray healing on all neurotransmitters, I pray for healing to any genetic mutations, etc.)
• Pray for healing of the programming of the long term memory cells in the RNA and the
hippocampus.
• Pray that the sensory preceptors are less sensitive, lower their sensitivity to God’s proper range
• Pray for normal levels of the neurotransmitters in the brain, esp. dopamine and serotonin.
• Pray that the receptor cells for serotonin and dopamine in the brain become unblocked and
operational.
• Pray for healing to the sensory neural pathway involved in integration and speech.
• Command that there will be no more improper nerve transmission interfering with the body’s
nervous systems.
• Pray for all cognition to return to normal including impulse control, focus concentration,
language skills and memory.
• Pray for normal social skills and interactions to begin to develop.
Over the past 10 years, high-tech research methods have begun to reveal neurological damage in some
autistic individuals. One of the most important findings indicates specific damage in the limbic system,
particularly in the amygdala and hippocampus.
• The amygdala, (which means “almond-shaped”), controls our aggression and emotions such as
fear and anger. Many autistic individuals are aggressive towards themselves or others, or
conversely, extremely passive. Furthermore, autistic children and adults often appear
emotionless or ‘flat’ (even though they obviously do have emotions). Experimenters have also
shown that when the amygdala is removed or damaged, animals exhibit behaviors similar to
autistic individuals, such as social withdrawal, compulsive behaviors, failure to learn about
dangerous situations, difficulty retrieving information from memory, and difficulty adjusting to
novel events or situations. In addition, the amygdala is responsive to a variety of sensory
stimuli, such as sounds, sights, and smells; as well as emotionally or fear-related stimuli. We
know that autistic individuals often have problems with each of these senses.
• The hippocampus, (shaped like a “sea horse”) appears to be primarily responsible for learning
and memory. Damage or removal of the hippocampus will lead to an inability to store new
information into memory. In addition, when the hippocampus is damaged or removed, animals
will display stereotypic, self-stimulatory behaviors and hyperactivity.
• The cerebellum is a relatively large portion of the brain and is located above the brainstem. It is
primarily responsible for motor movements, and damage to this area during the birth process
can cause cerebral palsy, a disorder characterized by uncontrollable motor movements. There is
also some recent evidence that the cerebellum is partially responsible for speech, learning,
emotions, and attention.

I encourage using technology to aid in the healing process. Prayer ministry will aid in its
effectiveness!!!
I encourage that for a healing process to begin that you, the parents are in right relationship with God.
It is important to see your child who may have these tendencies as a blessing in your family. Speak
love and blessings over them! Aid in their healing by listening to the Holy Spirit to be your guide as
you raise this special child. Make sure you take care of yourself and not isolate yourself or your child.
Seek out healthy support groups in the arena of need. And never take on guilt that you did something
wrong. Your child is special, and specially created, so ask God to give you a special love for this child.
Ask Him what His intent was in creating the child as He did. And REMEMBER, Normal is ONLY a
setting on your dryer! What is normal anyway?
Find ways to help the child defuse the high energy and high amount of functioning of the brain- Music,
gentle pressure on the body, especially the head, Worship music, teach them to communicate to Jesus
to help them in areas of needs, such as calming down and staying on task. Teach them that they can go
to God themselves for a personal relationship with God. Show how that is done.
“Jesus, help me sleep. Quiet my thoughts…..”
