SYNOPSIS

GROUNDNUT PICKER

It consists of two wire spike type cylinders. Inner cylinder hold by bearings

blocks and it driven by hand. Three persons can work at a time. It is suitable for

stripping of groundnut from plant. It saves66 percent labour, 80 percent operating

time and 30 per cent on cost of operation and it also results in 10 percent reduction in

losses compared to conventional method of manual stripping.

In our project we fabricated a Groundnut picker for easily separate the

groundnut from its plant. It consists of two cylindrical Pipes, shaft, Bearing, weld

mesh and fabricated materials. The Machine constructed by the weld mesh is welded

with inner and outer cylinder in equal distances and space is maintained for free

rotation. The inner cylinder fitted with shaft, shaft two ends supported by push

bearings. Outer cylinder is fitted with frame material, outer cylinder have space for

feeding groundnut plant inside the machine. Handle rotate the inner cylinder,

groundnut plant is held between two cylinder, the gap between weld mesh in both

cylinder is less than the groundnut size, so the groundnut is plucked by the weld mesh

and the nut separated from the plant. This is a pilot model machine setup, it further

modified with motorized separation unit, slinker attachments, safety precautions and

control panels etc.
