Tzav – Command.

Lev. 6: 8 – 8:36.

I. This Torah portion is difficult to glean from apart from the

Hebrew language. The ‘Language’ affords us insight into a
realm few may see. The title word, ‘Tzav’, Tzade-Vav, is the 25th
parsha of the year. 25 is the gematria of the phrase, “Let there
be”, first seen in Gen. 1:3, where YHVH declares, “Let there be
light”. This establishes a mystical connection with today’s Torah
portion. Let there be: translated, ‘yahi’ from #1961, hayah, ‫ היה‬is
part of the Name of YHVH revealed to Moshe at the advent of
Israel’s deliverance from Egypt. The word’s usage here implies
‘He declared’, ‘He would be’, ‘exist’, ‘be revealed’ – in the
physical realm – as Light – that was, is, and shall be! Light that
would last indefinitely! Tzade-Vav, is a picture of the Righteous
Man, I.E. Messiah, who would become the “Light of the World”.

It is no accident the location of the Altar which is the subject in the Torah
portion, is the same as that of the altar built by Solomon, purchased from
Ornan (translated by Strongs’ as: Light perpetuated) the Jebusite. 2 Chron. 3:
1. It is here that Cain & Abel supposedly brought their offerings, where Noah
built an altar upon exiting the Ark, and of course, Adam was created here at
his own place of Atonement!

This location, known as Mt. Moriah adds additional insight.

• Moriah, #4179, ‫ מוריה‬Mowriyah, translated, ‘chosen by

YHVH’, when broken apart says even more: Mem – Vav –
Resh, mur, #4171, is a verb meaning to exchange, to change.
The Yod infers, ‘I will’, while we have the poetic short form
of YHVH, Yah on the end. Thus, it could be rendered, ‘I
will exchange my place with YHVH’. A picture of Messiah
who becomes the manifestation of YHVH in the earth in
Gen. 1.

There is another anomaly in this verse: In Hebrew, the word for burning,
#4169, ‫ מוקדה‬mowqĕdah, hearth, top of the altar, is written with a diminished
‘Mem’. The Mem means from, the source of origin, and also represents
MAKOM – The Place. The vav hints at Messiah, Qoph – Dalet – Hey = to
kindle, be burned. Thus, we see this Altar represents the Place where Messiah
was to be offered as the Burnt Sacrifice of the Red Heifer!

The Priest.

II. Immediately upon instructing Moshe that what would precede

would consist of maintaining the Perpetual Fire by the Priest
along with instructions regarding his garments and his
responsibilities, we are left – with the KJV English – in a semi-
conscious stupor! Only the Hebrew language allows us to glean
the hidden Manna and salivate for more! Let’s look, shall we?

Lev. 6: 10 And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and his linen
breeches shall he put upon his flesh, and take up the ashes which the
fire hath consumed with the burnt offering on the altar, and he shall
put them beside the altar.

• Priest, #3548, ‫ כהן‬kohen, priest. However, the 2-letter root,

Hey-Nun, hen, is a personal pronoun for ‘they’. The Kaf
prefixed means, ‘like’. Thus, this could also reveal the Priest
functions as intermediary so that we can be “like they
(are)”. They here are of course, YHVH and
Messiah! The gematria of Kohen is 75, the same as the Hebrew word,
Millah, which means covenant, speech and is the age at which Abraham
left Ur of Chaldea, the place of the light of false grace. Remember, the
place of this altar, is that of Ornan the Jebusite. (1Chron. 21: 15) Ornan
means ‘light perpetuated’ but, the root stem Aleph – Resh, Are,
indicates a desolate, barren place. Thus, YHVH demonstrates Gen. 1: 1
– 3, where, after the destruction – toho v’ bohu, waste and desolate
condition of the earth, PERPETUAL LIGHT IS RELEASED! It is
Aaron (The Light Bearer) who is charged with bringing light/fire to this
altar!
Shall put, #3847, ‫ לבש‬labash, translated as garments, it is spelled with
the same consonantal root letters: Lamed – Bet – Shin, which can also
be used metaphorically as a WIFE!

Garment, #4055, ‫ מד‬mad, (made) can also mean ‘armor’, ‘judgment’,

and ‘stature’. Which connects us to Ephs. 4:13 where we’re told we are
in the process of being perfected until we achieve the measure of
Messiahs’ stature – garment – priesthood!

Ashes, #1880, ‫ דשן‬deshen, this word means ‘fat ashes’ and is different
from the usual word for ash, which is aphar, ash, dust. Deshen also
means, to be fresh, thriving, to anoint, to be fertile, nourished. If we
break the word apart, the Dalet = door, while the Shin – Nun, shin,
represents a tooth as in to devour, consume, but, it also depicts to
change, to learn. Thus, as the sacrifice was consumed, we were changed,
having been brought to the Learned One, who made us alive, and
shemened – oiled us with the fat, making us anointed and fertile!

These verses tell us, as the Bride, we’re to put on the Garment of Messiah –
The Priesthood, and as we are obedient in our duties, we become an offering
ourselves, made alive, anointed, and fertile, as we are changed into His image!

Our obligations don’t end with ourselves, but extend to those ‘outside’ the
camp.

Lev. 6: 11 And he shall put off his garments, and put on other garments,
and carry forth the ashes without the camp unto a clean place.

Changing Garments?

*Note different words used than in verse 10:

• Shall Put off, #6584, ‫ פשט‬pashat, to spread out on the

surface, take off. You should be familiar with its’ usage as
the first, or surface interpretation of Scripture. The root is
#6580, pas, a noun meaning wickedness, strong rebellion.

• Garments, #899, ‫ בגד‬beged, clothing, but also deceit,

treachery!
• Other, #312, ‫' אחר‬acher, translated, ‘other’ here. But, the
same root stem can mean another, as in a person who has
become another person literally, with another heart. (See
1Sam. 10: 9 where Samuel anoints Saul, as king, where he
receives another heart from YHVH).

What is happening? The People are seeing two different individuals. Once we
come in contact with the Sacrifice of Messiah – we are changed from one
given to strong rebellion, and deceitful treachery, to One who has become a
NEW CREATURE/ NEW PERSON with a New Heart! 2 Cor. 5:17.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new.

The Gk. word for Creature, Gk. #2937, ktis-is, implies a certain proprietor-
ship of the manufacturer. Thus, you belong to the one who as effected this
change! It is closely related to #2932, ktah’-om- ahee, to acquire or procure
for oneself – as in acquiring a wife! This is where we are changed!

We are to carry the Ashes, the deshen, fertile anointing, outside the camp, to a
clean place – I.E. a prepared place. The word for place is maqowm, #4725,
and is the name given to the place where Jacob had his dream. He called it the
“PLACE”. Mem = the origin, while qum #6966, means to stand erect, arise, to
achieve STATURE! This is the place where we will be seen fulfilling Eph. 4,
by achieving the measure of the Stature of Messiah in the Earth!

A Transition is taking place!

III. The next verse Lev. 6: 13 tells us: The fire shall ever be
burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.

• Fire, #784, ‫' אש‬esh, fire, but, it is cognate with the Hebrew words for Man,
Ish, and woman, Ishah, lacking only the Yod and Hey of YHVH. The original
man/fire was extinguished by sin, the Presence of Yah – removed, until the
Lamb is Slain.

• Shall Ever, #8548, ‫ תמיד‬tamiyd, perpetual, forever. The root is Tam,

integrity, completeness.
• Burning, #3344, ‫ יקד‬yaqad, burning. It has the same root stem Qof – Dalet,
as the Miphkad altar, where the Red Heifer was burned. This root implies a
numbering, accounting, as in a census.

• Altar, #4196, ‫ מזבח‬mizbeach, to sacrifice, cut off.

• Go Out, #3518, ‫ כבה‬kabah, to quench, to put out. It is also used of

extinguishing the life of someone.

As Priests, we are to tend the fire remembering it represents the Presence of

YHVH – sin extinguishes this flame in us. If we are obedient, our integrity will
be complete and we will be counted among those who Messiah was cut off for,
that we would never see our heritage, our lives, our fire, cut off!
