PRODUCT CATALOGUE 2010

LSL has over 25 years experience of the design and

provision of high quality chlorination equipment to
the water industries in both the UK and worldwide.

LSL was launched in 1985 to provide liquid handling services

to a variety of manufacturers. Through experience with these
industries and understanding their practices for disinfecting their
potable water systems, the need for convenient, safe, efficient and
effective chlorination equipment was indentified. In developing
such equipment, the potential for its application within the water
distribution systems of a Water Company became apparent and now
the LSL customers are almost exclusively the Water Companies and
their Contractors.

LSL have produced the following products, designed specifically

to meet the needs of it’s customers:
n F ixed Site Installations – Custom-made for remote locations
n T he trailer Unit – Superior mobile disinfection
n T he trolley Unit – Portable water main disinfection
n t he suitcase Unit – For the most inaccessible locations

These four products have been successfully used for disinfection on

a variety of projects dealing with:
n Planned maintenance on water distribution systems.
n Emergency pipeline repairs.
n Water mains renewal or rehabilitation.
n Residual chlorine boosting remote from water treatment works.
n New or modified potable water systems in buildings.

To ensure that the quality of potable water is not compromised in

any way, all components of the LSL equipment are obtained from
established suppliers to the water industry. Additionally, the design
and construction of each assembly ensures a safe, robust and
reliable product. The design is regularly reviewed to accommodate
customer needs and technological development.

The operation of each product is straightforward and well within the

expertise of water industry operators. LSL provide full training for
operators with a fast and reliable after sales support service. All
LSL products are available to be purchased or hired as appropriate.

FIXED SITE INSTALLATIONS
Custom-made for remote locations

Fixed Site Installations are designed to meet

the requirements of customers for use at remote
locations in the water distribution systems.
These could be at service reservoirs or pumping stations where
residual chlorine levels need boosting on a permanent basis. All
Fixed Site Installations have computerised operation and control
with full accountability for any performance audit. They can be
remotely operated and controlled with all recorded parameters
transmitted to base. The inherent reliability of all equipment
minimises the servicing and maintenance attendance required.

Fixed Site Installations – key features:

n All components are contained in a weatherproof cabin,
which is mounted on a concrete base.
n Chemical dosing range up to 350 litres per hour for chlorination.
n Multiple dosing pump options including duty and standby.
n Individual bunds for chemical containers.
n Flow proportional control by water flow meter outputs:
pulsed and/or mA.
n 110 volt operation from mains supply.
n Computerised system controller, monitor, recorder.
n Options for internal lighting, background heating and ventilation.
n First aid and personal protection equipment.
THE TRAILER UNIT
Superior mobile disinfection

The Trailer Unit is a superior, mobile plant

offering an excellent operating environment for
the more demanding and temporary disinfection
applications in the water distribution system.
The Trailer Unit incorporates robust and straightforward apparatus
in an appropriately furnished trailer which fully protects the
equipment, chemicals and operator from the elements. Efficient
chlorination and/or de-chlorination of new or repaired trunk mains
can be assured as well as supplementation of established treatment
processes where necessary.

The Trailer Unit – key features:

n All components in an easily manoeuvred, weather-proof trailer.
n Chemical dosing range up to 350 litres per hour.
n Multiple dosing pump options.
n Individual bunds for chemical containers, separate from operator.
n Hydrant couplings for water main bypass connections.
n Flow proportional injection (direct injection optional).
n 110 volt supply connection and 24 volt battery pack
(48 hour running time).
n Water flow meter and chemical dose controller, monitor, recorder.
n Computerised system controller, monitor, recorder.
n Validation kit for instant water quality check.
THE TROLLEY UNIT
Portable water main disinfection

The Trolley Unit is a splendid, user-friendly

apparatus with an established track record for the
efficient disinfection of new and refurbished water
mains and for boosting chlorine residuals at any
point in the water distribution system.
The Trolley Unit is a reliable, safe, robust and straightforward
apparatus which efficiently enhances chlorination operations in a
range of applications in the water distribution system. The Trolley
Unit may also be used for de-chlorination where required.

The Trolley Unit – key features:

n The unit is mounted on wheels and weighs only 36 kilogrammes.
n Chemical dosing range up to 32 litres per hour.
n A chemical suction hose is already attached.
n Hydrant couplings are readily accessible for mains bypass
connections, with inlet strainer and outlet mixer.
n Flow proportional injection (with optional direct injection).
n 110 volt supply connection and a 12 volt battery pack
(with a 12 hour running time) with a separate self-monitoring
battery charger.
n Includes a water flow meter and chemical dose controller,
monitor, and a total flow recorder.
n A validation kit for instant water quality checks.
THE SUITCASE UNIT
For the most inaccessible locations

The Suitcase Unit is a superb piece of

equipment for general field work, and is capable
of providing chlorination anywhere in the water
distribution system.
The portability of the unit makes access possible to the most
difficult of locations. Injection is achievable up to 15 bar via air
valve, washout or under pressure tapping. If you require a reliable,
safe, robust and straightforward system for disinfection with
minimal training, then the Suitcase Unit is your solution.

The Suitcase Unit – key features:

n Extremely portable, it weighs only 13.6 kilogrammes.
n Chemical dosing range up to 5 litres per hour.
n Chemical suction and delivery hoses attached.
n Direct or flow proportional injection.
n 12 volt battery power with an 8 hour running time – the spare
battery is rechargeable from a van, car or the mains supply.
n Suitable for purging new or rehabilitated mains and for localised
boosting of chlorine levels.
n All components are totally enclosed in splash/weather proof box.
n There is a separate validation kit for instant water quality checks.
TESTIMONIALS
What our Clients say about LSL
“…we have found the equipment supplied by LSL to be of a
high standard. Any queries have been dealt with efficiently and
assistance has been offered whenever required to ensure that we
maintain our working standards. Training has been conducted in a
professional manner and feedback from the individuals who have
completed their instruction has been very positive. The personnel
have acquired a good understanding of the procedures and feel
competent to carry them out.”
Andy Haville, Project Manager, T J Brent Limited

“The Chlorine dosing equipment purchase has worked very well

and has enabled us to achieve the desired levels of Chlorine
residual within the select reservoirs. The systems also allow us to
operate them with the minimum of effort and need only one site
visit per week as required. This has also been achieved at a cost
substantially less than we were quoted by other potential suppliers.
It was also very useful to have a supplier who was willing to work
around our requirements to help provide our preferred solution.”
Mark Taylor, Unit Manager
United Utilities Operational Services Limited

“The real plus with the equipment LSL provided is the simplicity
of use, after only 2-3 days on-site training the technicians out
in the field were able to use the Trailer Unit with no trouble at
all. Also the versatility of the unit has been advantageous as we
have used it for both booster chlorinating and increased residual
chlorinating. It has been such an advantage to literally program the
unit and walk away, saving both time and money, and so freeing up
other resources…the back-up service LSL have provided us with
since taking delivery of the unit has been first class, from on-site
servicing to advice on the unit’s best working practice/performance,
carrying out specific mains and service chlorinating tasks.”
Garry Banks, Treatment Works Manager, Essex & Suffolk Water

“Over the last five years…South West Water has been able to
significantly improve its compliance performance. The chlorination
equipment purchased and the support and advice offered by
LSL have been central to this, with the delivery of a number of
installations tailored specifically to our needs. I have no problem in
recommending LSL products and services to any other customer
looking to purchase and install secondary chlorination equipment.”
