1. Purpose

This document is intended to provide the Oracle 9i Client installation details and work instructions
This document can be consulted by TKM IS Team and IBM Oracle DBA Team to understand the Oracle
9i client implementation.

2. Scope

This document focuses on the installation / implementation of Oracle 9i client setup.

Installation

1. Insert the Oracle client CD in CDROM


Double click on setup.exe Icon

At the OUI Welcome screen, click “Next”.

1. Following steps to be carried out during the installation;

a) Specify the location to install oracle software


ORA_HOME=d:\oracle\ora92

b) Select the available product as: 9.2.0.1.0

c) Select Installation type as: Oracle 9i Client

The File Location window will appear. Do not change the Source field. The Destination field defaults to
the ORACLE_HOME environment variable. Click Next.

Select the Products to install. In this example, select the Oracle9i Client then click “Next”.

Select the installation type. Choose the Enterprise Edition option. The selection on this screen refers to the
installation operation, not the database configuration.

Once oracle client installation is completed

3.2 Applied 9.2.0.7.0 patchset for oracle software

1. Down load the patch set for for 9.2.0.7.0 oracle software

2. Apply the patch set to install oracle software (9.2.0.7.0)

Note : - Before starting Oracle Patch installation stop all Oracle services

a) Insert the Oracle patch cd in CD-ROM drive. And double click on setup.exe

b) Then select the existing $ORACLE_HOME and path

c) Select 9.2.0.7.0 patch from product to install

d) Summary page will display

e) Installation progress screen will appear

f) Successful installation screen will appear

This completes patch set oracle software installation.

3.4 OLEDB Installation

Down load the OLEDB oracle software.

a)Double click on setup.exe

b) Then select the existing $ORACLE_HOME and path

c) Select the OLEDB product.

d) Check the progresses bar.

e) Installation get it done successfully
