 ABSTRACT

Open Burning and the resultant smoke-haze are relatively not

new experiences to Malaysia. However, the problems seem to be increasing
in intensity and occur rampantly. Now, the open burning caused a serious
environmental problem in Malaysia. Although there are many policies and
campaigns being introduced and implemented, these problems still persist
and a healthy environment is still continuing detrimental. Therefore, this study
focuses on effects and way to curb rampant open burning in Malaysia. The
objectives of this study to identify the reason why the open burning occur
rampantly in Malaysia and to investigate the effects of open burning then we
will have to find the effectives ways to prevent it from happening.

The study was carried out by questionnaire. A total of 43

respondents at various locations such as Fire and Rescue Department, TM
RND, Rapid KL, BERNAMA, Indah Water and construction sites have
submitted the completed questionnaire. The findings of this questionnaire
data identified the causes of the problem and the proposed solution from the
level of awareness and understanding of respondents. All the respondent
knows about open burning also agree that the open burning effect to our
environment and human health.
