  We started off the week with a wonderful 
Purim parade in the ECC. We paraded through the  Lauren Schuster and
school  and  into  the  offices  upstairs  singing  and  Yitzy Schleifer, both
playing  instruments.  The  children  were  dressed  in  YR graduates, on their
creative  and  fun  costumes  to  enhance  this  special  engagement. Mazal

butterfly  unit  after  Pesach.  This  is  a  highlight  with 
the children and teachers each year. We try to plan 
it  just  right  so  the  butterflies  are  ready  to  be 
released at our annual Lag B’Omer celebration.  

  We  had  the  special  opportunity  to  share 

each  child’s  growth  and  development  at  Parent 
Teacher  conferences  this  past  Tuesday  evening.  It 
was  great  seeing  many  of  you  and  sharing  the 
childrens’ work, stories and ideas. We greatly value 
the  team  effort  and  we  thank  all  of  you  for 
entrusting us with your precious children.  

  We  have  so  many  great  plans  for  the 

remaining  months  of  the  school  year.  We  look 
forward  to  sharing  them  with  you  as  we  progress 
on  this  amazing  and  wondrous  journey  of 
childhood.

Message from Rabbi Shmuel Feld, derivative  social  network  that  warps  halacha’s

there is no central organizing body that responds to 
issues,  levels  public  sanctions,  or  organizes  Shmuel Feld 
education.    The  last  of  those  was  a  primary  goal  of 
the  Sanhedrin.    The  Av Beit Din ran  the  court  system 
and  the  Nasi ran  the  school  and  public  face  of  the 
Sanhedrin.   

  The Talmud explains that each city in Judea 
was  required  to  teach  a  Sanhedrin‐generated 
curriculum  that  corresponded  to  the  days  of  the 
month.    That  way,  a  merchant  could  have 
consecutive  educational  lessons  occur  for  his 
children  while  traveling  from  city  to  city.    The 
Sanhedrin prioritized  the  education  of  children  in  its 
yearly actions.  The Law was kept in balance by the  Metereologist Tom Tasselmyer visits the second grade 

Sanhedrin.    In  comparison,  the  last  1700  years  of 

halachic history  has  been  filled  with  a  great  deal  of 
expanding  creativity,  sharp  boundaries  to  keep  the 
system  whole,  and  arguments  over  which  one  of 
those  two  will  cause  the  collapses  of  the  religion.   
Both are part of the system. 

  The  goal  is  to  create  a  discriminating 

halachic  palate.    By  faith,  we  are  committed  to  the 
Law.    It  defines  our  kedusha and  organizes  the  base 
of  our  shared  experience.    By  Halacha,  I  mean  that  Fifth grade boys display their anemometers to  measure 
which  Hashem  ordered  and  that  which  the  Elders,  wind speed 
Prophets,  and  Rabbis  obligated  the  Jewish  People.    
We  can  react  to  it,  question  it,  and  demand  of 
ourselves to understand its deeper meaning.  We are 
a  Shulchan  Aruch  school  and  not    a  de  facto 
institution that eschews halachic standards.   

  Our  approach  to  modernity  is  consonant 

with  the  approach  fostered  by  our  ancestors  in 
Europe,  North  Africa,  and  Persia;  Torah  is  primary 
and one must be an expert in science, math, culture, 
and  language  to  understand  the  application  of 
Torah.

  I  canʹt  believe  that  we  are  only  three  weeks  away 
from Pesach. The year is really flying by. I am very pleased to 
hear  that  our  middle  school  students  are  working  on  a 
Haggadah.

MSHS  Girls Principal
 

  The  Middle  and  High  School  girls  had  such  a  fun  ‐

filled  Purim!  On  motzei Shabbat, the  senior  class  organized  a 
Purim Chagiga with  great  food,  beautiful  decorations,  an  art 
project,  Zumba dancing, and of course a Purim dvar Torah. It 
was quite amusing to see Minnie Mouse, Little Bo Peep, and 
Pocohantus  Zumba‐dancing  to  their  favorite  songs.  Thank 
you  to  the  senior  girls  for  organizing  the  party  and  to  Mrs. 
Pam Weissman, who led the girls in Zumba. 

  On  Monday,  the  sixth  though  tenth  grade  girls 

hosted the elementary students for our annual Purim carnival. 
The  middle  and  high  school  girls  created  their  own  booths, 
with fun activities and games. The elementary students had a 
fantastic time playing each of the games, collecting tickets and 
of  course  getting  their  prizes.  In  addition,  there  was  a 
costume  contest  for  each  grade  and  every  winner  won  a 
special prize. 
ES Happenings MSHS Boys Happenings
   

Art Program Update    Adar  in  the  MSHS  Boys  Division  was  filled  with 
meaningful  ruach  and  good  old‐fashioned  fun.    Our  halls

  GRADE  5:  Discovery  of  the  Still  Life  painting  of 

Vincent  Van  Gogh’s  “Sun  Flowers”  is  currently  the  primary 
focus  of  Grade  5.  They  will  also  explore  the  painting  “Starry 
Night.” 

  Art  Display:  Rambam’s  students  are  invited  to 

display  their  artwork  at  the  Pikesville  Library  on 
Reisterstown  Road  from  April  8‐May  4,  2011.  The  show  is 
open to students in grades 3‐5.
