PRESENTATION OF THE PRESIDENT

Martín Pérez, President of ASIMELEC

For the first time I assume the responsibility to present the Annual Report of the Association which we
elaborate traditionally accordingly with our General Assembly in which all Associates and other agents of
the sector meet to evaluate the associative and sectorial status.

Therefore, in this occasion my first words must express my gratitude to my colleagues of the Executive
Committee, who were so kind to trust me by electing me as the President of the Association after the
cessation of the former President and a great friend of mine, Luis Pérez Bermejo, who had finished the
period marked by our statutes.

We intend to present a shared balance of which I also feel responsible since I participated as the Vice-
president of the last Executive Committee. This balance is highly positive, as you can see with detail in the
Annual Report. The growth and evolution experienced by ASIMELEC in the last financial year is perfectly
tangible, in a qualitative and quantitative sense. I think that it is not exaggerated at all to point out that for
many years ASIMELEC is being constituted as an associative reference for the TIC sector in Spain.

Consequently, instead of talking about the future which obviously is essential in such a relevant document
as this, I would like to look at the future and the working lines we intend to develop in the coming years; I
had the satisfaction to recently present them to my colleagues of the Executive Committee who kindly
subscribed my point of view on this master lines.

First of all, we must start acknowledging all the work carried out until now and the big challenge before us.
Fortunately, we are a consolidated Association with a high level of assistance and sectorial representatitivy
(more than 2000 companies in the associative orbit) and we are at the top of fields such as environment,
security, intellectual property, etc…

Well, considering these premises and bearing in mind the high level of our starting point, we have designed
a working program for the 2007-2009 period that, among other objectives, implies to improve and increase
the services for the associates, to develop the knowledge of the Association, to extend the representativity
at a sectorial and local level, as well as to increase the institutional relationships and the communication
levels.

It is an ambitious plan which is materialized in some specific actions, which are very difficult to explain in
these lines and we trust that they will come true very soon. For the time being I would like to outline two
new services that are already working and of which we are very excited about. In particular, we are talking
about the International Trade Bureau and the Technological Transfer and Innovation Office. Both projects
show the competitionship and excellence level we intend to reach for the new areas of ASIMELEC which,
together with the leadership already acquired in other fields, will consolidate the Association as the
Sectorial reference.

LETTER FROM THE GENERAL DIRECTOR

Every year I prepare these lines I find myself, as always, having a hard time trying to outline in a few
paragraphs the whole balance of the intense activity carried out by ASIMELEC during last financial year.
Therefore, I think that it is very important to mention the main pillars that have been crucial for our outcome.

The so popular “copyright levy” has been the issue that has taken most of our attention and that has
generated an intense activity this financial year. In the first place the efforts developed to make the law
being debated in the Court to be as much in accordance as possible with both the European Directives and
the industry interests, so that it can be applied, have been the absolute priority of our daily work.

It couldn’t be other way. Many matters are at stake such as the economical or a conception model of the
author’s rights in the new digital environment.

In this sense we have developed an intense task making legal, economical and marketing studies as well
as gathering companies affected by this issue by joining efforts and developing information and divulgation
campaigns to transfer the public opinion our point of view. This great effort had a reward in a first stage due
to the fact that the approved law was favorable to our interests; a fact that has been recognized abroad by
the international organizations to which ASIMELEC belongs. Subsequently a great job has been made

Another important chapter of last year was the environment with the consolidation of Environmental
foundations constituted in order to face the rules of the well-known RAEES.

All the above mentioned matters together with a special growth of both the number of associates and the
working groups, projects and services let us finish this financial year which is one of the most successful of
ASIMELEC’s associative life. The forthcoming pages show with detail that everything stated in this letter is
a tangible reality.

As always my final words are addressed to express my gratitude to all those persons who have made
possible this positive balance, beginning by the Executive Committee and finishing by the staff of the
association whose effort and motivation are out of the ordinary. I want to express my most sincere
gratitude to all of them.

This group is composed of information technology
wholesalers, representing 80 % of the sector.
During this period the Commission elected a new
President, Mr. Agustín Alarcón, from DIODE
ESPAÑA, S.A.
On the other hand, the main activities developed
by this group have been: the analysis of the
regulation affecting the sector, particularly the
Law of Intellectual Property and the follow-up of
the Negotiations regarding the Digital Levy,
derived from the previous one.
The group has shown a great interest in this
subject since the sector can be affected both as
the first traders of certain products and as the
subsidiary responsible for the obligation
mentioned in the regulation.
According to the follow-up of the rule we must
emphasize the analysis of the Law 3/2004 by
which the measures against late payments in the
commercial operations are settled down. The
Commission contacted the public Administration
to transmit the concern of the sector on this
subject.
Finally, and still in relation to the legal analysis,
the Group has reviewed the different
interpretations of the legislation on imports of
software made by the Tributary Agency.
On the other hand, it is important to emphasize
the monthly elaboration of the statistics,
contributing with highly updated information of the
market. The companies value very positively this
information, since the sector they belong to
constantly evolves and the obtained data allows
making a constant follow-up.

Presentation book on Digital Home
The main goal of this Commission is
the promotion and development of the
digital home concept, on the basis of
both the increasing needs of digital
goods and the wideband access in the
Spanish homes.
The development of the market and the
accomplishment of actions for its
normalization by the Administration, are
being canalized from the Commission
with the development of specifications,
the creation of a seal of the Digital
Home, the creation of the Digital Home
White Book which intends to compile
the services properly defined, and the
technologies and infrastructures that
support them as well as the business
models that allows the user to get them.
During the current financial year and
thanks to the technical support of the
Consulting firm Acceda Mundo Digital,
S.L, the achievement of the aforesaid
goals is progressing, being reinforced
and expanded with the incorporation of
new companies.
It is important to emphasize that the
Commission and its results have been
presented in numerous events. Among
others, we can mention: the
presentation of the market study of the
Digital Home to both the media and the
sector, in Madrid, in February 2007, the
participation in the trade fair of
Domotics and Digital Home celebrated
in Valencia in March 2007, in which this
sectorial study was also successfully
presented to the public, the seminar
celebrated in Barcelona under the
invitation of Schneider…
In addition, this commission has
organized presentations in different
Trade Fairs, Congresses and Round
Tables. Finally, we must emphasize the
attendance to the meetings carried out
by this Commission of members from
the Telecommunication Secretariat of
State due to the high interest of the
works carried out as sectorial
reference.

Founded in 1978, the National
Federation of Telecommunications
Installation Companies is the
employer’s organisation of the
companies that integrate, maintain and
install telecommunications equipment
and systems.
There are more than 1,300
telecommunications installation
companies around Spain through its 34
territorial member organisations. The
associated companies generate more
than 25,000 direct jobs and their
turnover exceeds 1,100 million euros
per year.
The Federation has been a Corporate
partner of ASIMELEC since 1994, and
it is also a Member of the
Telecommunications and Information
Society Guidance Council of the
Ministry of Industry, Tourism and
Commerce, as a representative of the
telecommunications installation
companies. FENITEL is also the Vice
President of the European
Telecommunication Services
Association, ETSA, of which it was one
of the founding members and it is now
its representative in Spain.
FENITEL actively participates in the
Commissions of ASIMELEC of the
Digital Home, Digital Television and
Telecommunications, in addition to
being a member of AENOR’s CTN 133
“Telecommunications”.
In 2006, the Federation was deeply
involved in the promotion of the Digital
Terrestrial Television in Spain. In this
area FENITEL has played a key role on
the promulgation of the Ministerial
Order 1077/2006 of April 6th, which
regulates the “digitalization” process.
FENITEL ended 2006 with the
development of “FENITEL.DIGITAL”, a
set of tools to elaborate the
Telecommunications Installation
Bulletin and its subsequent telematic
procedures, incorporating the electronic
signature from the FNMT, together with
the State Telecommunications
Secretariat.
During the financial year, and together
with the participation of 5 homologue
European business organisations, they
have continued to develop the
European project called “CAMPUS
TELECOM” which will define the
professional profiles of vocational
training activities in the
Telecommunications area under the
Leonardo program of the EU.
The Federation organised and
participated in more than 200 public
events, highlighting the celebration of
“TELCOM´06 Murcia”, which included
the celebration of the XXVIII General
Assembly where the new President, Mr.
Antonio Mateos Corral, was elected.
In 2006, FENITEL published more than
25,000 copies of the official magazine
of the Federation, “The
Telecommunications Installation
Company”, forwarded more than 300
communiqués to its associates,
promoted and implemented diverse
training courses for its partners
throughout Spain under the framework
of the training activities carried out by
ASIMELEC, and participated with two
institutional stands at DOMOGAR and
MATELEC; in the latest together with
the territorial Madrilenian association.

Several agreements with different
institutions have been carried out from the
Association in order to improve the services
offered to the associates. Among them, we

• Collaboration agreement with INTECO
within the Avanza Plan: ASIMELEC and
the National Institute of Communication
Technologies (INTECO) signed
collaboration agreement in 2006 to carry
out actions to promote and develop the
Information Society. This way they
established collaboration ties for the
elaboration of projects, researches and
programs to accomplish such goal and,
on the other hand, academic proposals to
add value to the positioning of Spain in
the Information Society will be launched.

homologue French Association
AFDESI to formalize the exchange of
knowledge in the Digital Technology
sector. Within the activities made in the
Hispanic French meeting on DIGITAL TV
organized by the Ministries of Industry of
Spain and France, ASIMELEC and the
Homologue Association in France,
AFDESI, proceeded to sign a
collaboration agreement between the
sectorial associations mentioned to
promote the exchange of knowledge in
the TDT sector.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2005-2006
ASIMELEC celebrated the XXII
edition of the Annual General
Assembly on June 6th, 2006 in the
Casino of Madrid and Mr. Jaime
Alejandre, General Director of
Quality and Environmental
Evaluation from the Environment
Ministry was in charge of the closing
ceremony.
The Assembly covered the statutory
rules, the presentation of the
Association’s income statement as
well as the election of the new
auditors. At the same time, the new
members of the Executive
Committee were elected.
On the other hand, the Presidents of
the different Commissions made a
brief presentation of the activities
they carried out and informed the
rest of the associates of the main
goals accomplished. At the same
time, the then president, Mr. Luis
Pérez Bermejo, reported the
associates on the new projects and
activities carried out by the
Association as well as the status of
the represented sectors.
A brief description of the 22-years
course of the Association was made
from its birth, indicating its growth
and development and highlighting
the main subjects that have been
carried out during last year. In this
occasion the modification of the
Statutes of the Association were
subject to the approval of the
Assembly, particularly regarding the
goals and tasks of the Association,
contained in Article 5.

Opening of II Edition of Masters Degree
Faced with the increasing concerns of
the companies towards the area of
security and the necessity to train
responsible staff able to lead and
manage a successful policy of security,
ASIMELEC started up II the Edition of
this Masters.
The Masters still counts on the support
of experts from the main companies of
the IT security sector, and its
methodology and guidance are focused
on the presentation and the discussion
of case studies and projects, in order to
dynamize to the maximum the
transmission of knowledge and
experience of the teaching staff.
It is important to emphasize that in this
occasion, the Masters has been
financed by the Ministry of Industry,
Tourism and Commerce through the
FORINTEL Program.
CONGRESS ON ELECTRONIC INVOICE
AND CERTIFIED DIGITALIZATION
The I National Congress on Electronic
Invoice and Certified Digitalisation,
promoted by ASIMELEC with the
collaboration of Red.es, was held on
October 18th, 2006.
It was made a review of the main
indexes that determine the adoption of
technologies related to the Information
Society and a comparison between the
Spanish companies and those from
other countries was carried out as well.
On the other hand, the providers of
certification services were also a
relevant part of the act, emphasizing
that thanks to the coming into force of
Law 59/2003 the reception of its
certificates in the Public Administrations
has improved.
Conference at E-Invoice Congress
Also some of the results developed by
the “eInvoice” Working group of the
Commission of Security were
presented, such as the proposal of the
Standardized Invoice, which will allow a
simpler digitalization when all those
issuers glued to the paper adopt it.
The Congress was a great success
thanks to the presence of more than
150 assistants and more than twenty-
five experts. In addition it counted on
the collaboration of SETSI, RED.ES
and AEAT, as well as the sponsors,
IPSca, DOC on TIME, ANCERT,
ALBALIA and EUROBITS.
Among the brilliant personalities and
experts that actively collaborated we
would like to mention Domingo

SEMINAR ON E-HEALTH
On September 28 and 29 2006,
ASIMELEC organized the seminar on
e-Health in collaboration with IKT
Norge, the Norwegian homologue
association.
The Seminars were addressed to
system and human resources
managers from hospitals and clinics,
system managers from organizations
and institutions with or without
customer service and to those
companies using sanitary and health
applications in part of their activities.
The program was focussed on avant-
garde concepts and new developments
of the IT, making an effective and
contrasted approach in clinics and
hospital from other countries.
MOBILE ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
CENTER (TRAGAMÓVIL BUS)
The “Mobile Environmental Education
Center” promoted by the Tragamóvil
Foundation, which consists of a bus
equipped with interactive and divulging
means related to the importance of
gathering and recycling telephony and
communication waste, has travelled in
2006 around fifteen Autonomous
Communities and sixty-nine Spanish
municipalities, with an average of 700
visitors per day and a total of more than
60,000 visits.

Thanks to wide media coverage, in
terms of traditional means and online, it
is estimated that the corporative images
of the sponsors of the Foundation have
been watched by about 10 million
people.
Given the success generated by this
initiative, the Tragamóvil Bus will
continue travelling around the Spanish
geography in 2007. The campaign for
this year has been presented in May
and has counted with the presence of
the Environment Minister, Ms. Cristina
Narbona Ruiz, who has expressed her
support to the initiative.
EXPOSEC 2006-2007
The Informative Seminars “EXPOSEC
2006-2007” is a project for the diffusion
and promotion of the security in the
Information Technologies, born within
the Commission for the Security and
the Confidence for the Information
Technologies of ASIMELEC.
It has been financed by Ministry of
Industry, within the program

ARTEPYME II and has been set in
motion by the Secretariat of State for
Telecommunications and Information
Society.
Under the slogan “Security and
Confidence in the Network”, the
entrepreneurs have been informed on
the security methods applicable to the
Information Technologies. In 2006 in
Valladolid and Salamanca. In 2007 in
Reus, Málaga, Vigo, Fuerteventura and
La Gomera.
The goal is to promote the applicability
in the SME’s (Small and medium
enterprises) related to security in the
technological and information systems,
to show it through basic applications
and to take advantage of the digital
signature to optimize the procedures of
the e-signature and e-invoicing.
In the seminars some presentations
have been made on IT Security
Concepts, business continuity, ISO
27001, Defence Systems: Antivirus,
“Firewall”, e-ID card, Electronic Invoice,
LSSI and LOPD, exposing theoretical
and practical aspects.
TDT CONGRESS
The I International Congress on
Terrestrial Digital Television was held
last December 13th, at the Congress
Palace from Madrid. This Congress
has been carried out thanks to the
financing of the Ministry of Industry,
Tourism and Commerce through its
program of Acts and Seminars, also
was sponsorized by Professional Help
Desk, La Salle, Gamesystem and
Influence & Profit.
The program counted on a series of
Conferences on the TDT and its
incorporation, evolution and promotion
in the Information Society, being
completed by Round Tables in which
those subjects treated in the previous
conferences were discussed and
enriched. The assistants of said round
tables participated actively and made
questions of interests. The proposed
program was addressed to the
professionals with the objective of
completing their experience in the
sector of the Digital Television, through
the updating of their knowledge and
identifying its keys of success in the
Spanish market.
The congress was published in the
Web page www.protdt.es and the
experiences arisen have been spread;
since it allows unloading the
presentations made and it shows the
main news regarding the Congress
published in the press.
The congress counted on 31 high-
quality lecturers and the assistance of
more than 240 people, who showed
great interest and participated in the
proposed subjects.
VII TELECOM CONGRESS
The VII Congress of
Telecommunication, named
ProTelecom 2006, was held last
December 12th, 2006 at the Congress
Palace of Madrid. The event was
organized by ASIMELEC, with the
financing aid of the Ministry of Industry,
through its program Acts and Seminars
and was sponsoriced by ALBALIA
INTEREACTIVA and PROFESIONAL
HELP DESK.
The main goal of this Congress was the
presentation of the new technologies
available to improve the service and
increase them, which means the use of
bands of digital technology.
The Congress counted on 171
participants and 24 lecturers who made

brilliant presentations which generated
a considerable number of interventions
in the round tables.

VI INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON
ELECTRONIC WASTE RECYCLING
On September 2006 ASIMELEC
attended the VI Technical Seminar on
Electronic Waste Recycling organized
by the University of Cadiz. This sixth
edition gathered more than 300
representatives from entities,
companies, foundations and institutions
devoted to the environmental
management of electrical and electronic
waste. ASIMELEC participated as a
lecturer in the seminars, exposing the
current situation of the Integrated
Systems of Electronic Waste
Management in Spain, and also
promoted and coordinated the
presence in RELEC of the different
European management systems,
members of the WEEE Forum.
On the occasion of the celebration of
RELEC’06, the University of Cadiz
signed with representatives from
different companies and entities of the
sector (among them the Environmental
Foundations promoted by ASIMELEC)
a Collaboration Agreement for the
creation of the “Chair RELEC” on
Electronics, Communications and
Sustainability which will carry out
several projects related to the recycling
and the adequate management of the
electronic and electric waste.
On the other hand, from April 24-27,
2007, the University of Cadiz has
organized for the first time some
RELEC seminars in Buenos Aires
(Argentine), with the aim of creating a
new meeting point in Latin-American to
exchange the experiences related to
the electrical waste management and to
promote the transfer of good practices
and technologies of electronic waste
recycling. ASIMELEC has attended
these seminars, exposing the
implications of the European
regulations related to the management
of electronic waste and the
organizational matters of the integrated
management systems of the electronic
waste in Spain.
WORLD RECYCLING FORUM – SHANGAI

ASIMELEC was invited to show the
successful experience of the
TRAGAMOVIL Foundation, which is
considered a pioneer project in our
country.
INTERNET’S DAY
ASIMELEC, within its desire to promote
the Internet Society, has participated in
the “Internet‘s Day” held on May 17th
with events in different cities such as
Madrid, Málaga or Gijón.
Among the celebrated acts it is
important to mention the award
ceremony “Internet Day” organized by
the “Committee of promotion of the
Internet’s Day” and the Andalusian
Autonomous Government (Junta de
Andalucía ), which recognize the effort
made by individuals an entities to
introduce the citizens into the
Information Society and to promote the
access to Internet.
It’s worth mentioning the prize obtained
by the Foundation CTIC and the
Principalty of Asturias with the project

Biodiversity Foundation and the
European Social Fund. In 2006 five
speeches were given and more than 60
personalized informative interviews
were granted to SME’s and
marginalized communities within the
sectors affected by the legislation
regarding the electronic waste
management, such as
telecommunications, computing, office
automation, electromedicine or
photography, among others; the goal of
informing and training 30,000 users
was accomplished.
In 2007, we are developing, together
with the IFO institute which is
specialized in online Training, online
courses focussed on the electric and
electronic waste management, on the
implications of the current legislation
and the operation of the Integrated
Systems Management, which can be
found in the Platform Electronic Waste
Management Web of the Environmental
Foundations promoted by ASIMELEC
(http://raee.asimelec.es).
ETER PROJECT FOR THE ELECTRONIC
WASTE PROCESSING
Both ASIMELEC and the Environmental
Foundations it promotes (Tragamóvil,
Ecofimática and Ecoasimelec) signed a
collaboration Agreement on July 2006
with the Foundation “Forum Ambiental”
and Atos Origin to incorporate itself, as
a collaborator entity, in the ETER
Project of “Standardization of the
Electronic Waste Processing” in at least
12 Autonomous Regions that
collaborate in the project (Aragón,
Asturias, Cantabria, Castile-La Mancha,
Castile and León, Catalonia, Galicia, La
Rioja, Navarra, Basque Country,
Valencia and Murcia).
The project, with a highly innovative
character nationwide, searches the
standardization of all administrative
electronic proceedings of the
Autonomous Regions regarding waste,
in order to have a unique format in the
whole Spain.
In recognition for its pioneer and
coordinative character among the
regional administrations, the ETER
project was awarded in December 2006
with the III Prize “Cooperation of the
ICT companies with the Public
Administrations” bestowed by the
Magazine “Information Society”.
PROJECT IMPROVEMENT OF
SOFTWARE QUALITY
This project has started up with the
purpose of helping SME’s to obtain a
certification that proves the quality of
their software, used by both its clients
or internally.
The certification establishes some
procedures and programming process
controls for the creation of software.

This way, it allows the companies to
guarantee the competitiveness of their
products and the significant
improvement of the software quality, by
innovating in the development
processes.
Its main targets are the sensibilización,
awareness and communication to
SME’S of the advantages obtained from
the certification and the analysed
software quality models, turning it into
an innovating project, which has
received the aid from the Industry
Ministry, through the program PROFIT.
Through this project the following tasks
have been carried out: diagnosis of the
status of the software process;
designation of the improvement plans
according to the necessities in each of
the nine participating SME’s and the
implantation of the processes in each
organization.
IMPROVEMENT OF THE MANAGEMENT
BY IMPLANTATION AND CERTIFICATION
OF QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENT
This project has received the financing
from the Plan of Consolidation and
Competitiveness of the SME, a
program managed by IMADE in the
Community of Madrid, which is
considered by the Association as a
project of great interest, since it allows
to improve the competitiveness and
enterprise management of the SMEs
through the development, implantation
and certification of integrated systems
according to the norms ISO 9001:2000
and ISO14001: 2004.
The ten participating companies have a
Manual on Quality and Environment,
the General and Specific procedures
and have obtained Certificates of
Quality and Environment according to
the mentioned norms.
The main benefit obtained is the
establishment of a series of tools for the
definition and control of the activities
and processes made by the company,
allowing its better operation, which
generates an improvement in the
services, the customer service, the
adaptation to criteria of good
environmental practices, etc
GROUP PROJECT FOR THE REVISION AND
DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW CORPORATIVE
IMAGE
ASIMELEC, under the demand of the
associates, started up a project whose
goal was focussed in the study of the
design, development and publication of
a new corporative image of the member
companies.
The European Fund for the Regional
Development, through a program
managed by IMADE in the Community
of Madrid, “Plan of Consolidation and
Competitiveness of the SME”, has
financed the project, since it considered
that the competitiveness of the SME
improves because the image it projects
becomes better and, at the same time,
it allows the company to adapt to the
new tendencies of the market.
The twenty participating companies
have obtained a “Book” of the
Corporative Image, a Catalogue of
formats showing how to use the
Corporative Image, and the logo
developed to their needs and activities.
DIAGNOSIS STUDY OF THE SECURITY
SITUATION IN THE SYSTEMS OF THE
SPANISH SMES
This project was developed with the
idea of evaluating the security systems
of the associated SME’s, being based
on the standards of the norm ISO
17799 and systems to guarantee
security and data, including the degree
of fulfilment of the Data Protection Law
and the Law of Services of the
Information Society and Electronic
Commerce.
Thanks to this project, it has been
possible to make twenty participating

companies aware, particularly their
staff, of the fact that security is one
more tool which contributes to the
process of constant improvement.
Also, it has been elaborated a report
grouping the characteristics more
important and common to the
participating companies, serving as an
excellent guide of the diagnoses,
evaluations and systems of control that
must be settled down in the security
area of a SME.
FOUNDATION FOR THE KNOWLEDGE
TRANSFER OF ASIMELEC
The Foundation aims to become a
transmission tool of knowledge
addressed to those sectors of society
that can benefit from this valuable
intangible asset.
The creation of a Strategic Plan for the
period 2007/2011, designs a scenario
to delimit the strategy which allows the
accomplishment of the goals of the
Foundation, via different goals and
actions, by determining the short-term
direction and priorities.
FOREIGN TRADE BUREAU
Last October the Executive Committee
of ASIMELEC approved, as a part of
the new services for the associates, the
creation of a Foreign Trade Bureau
within the Association.
The main goal of the Foreign Trade
Bureau, which is operative since March
2007, is to support the associate in its
exportation and internationalization
processes, as well as to give guidance
and advice to all those associates
which intend to develop external
activities in the future.

Committee, consisted of the creation of
a Technological Transfer Bureau, which
operates from the beginning of 2007.
The Technological Transfer Bureau will
give support to our associates in the
carrying out of R&D projects, facilitating
the cooperation among the companies;
the generation of R&D contents within
the Association and its Working
Commissions as well as the access to
possible financing sources for the
development of all these projects.
ENVIRONMENT
ENVIROMENTAL FOUNDATIONS
OF ASIMELEC
The Environmental Foundations
promoted by ASIMELEC for the
Environmental Management of
Electrical and Electronic Devices
(TRAGAMÓVIL, ECOFIMÁTICA and
ECOASIMELEC) count on more than
400 producers and sellers of electric
and electronic devices from different
sectors and have already managed
more than 8,000 tons of electronic
waste. According to data audited by
KPMG and presented on March 2007 to
the competent authorities, just during
2006 the Foundations have managed
more than 6,000 tones of waste.
With these figures the leading position
nationwide of the Integrated
Management Systems of Electrical and
Electronic Devices (SIGs) managed by
these foundations, is consolidated
allowing the companies to fulfil the

obligations derived from the Royal
Decree 208/2005, of 25 February, on
the electric and electronic devices and
the waste management. In this same
line, the figures of waste management
will increase significantly in 2007 with
the expansion of the network of
collecting spots of electronic waste to
new Clean Spots or municipal facilities
for waste collection, according to the
negotiations they still maintain with the
Autonomous Regions on the matter.
The Web Platform for the Management
of Electrical and Electronic Device
Waste (http://raee.asimelec.es),
promoted by the Foundations, has
allowed to canalize all information
services and novelties, the
management of the collection and
recycling of equipments, the adhesion
of new companies or the
communication with the National
Registry of Producers of Electronic and
Electric Devices (REI-RAEE), managed
by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and
Commerce, among other services.
TRAGAMÓVIL FOUNDATION
The TRAGAMÓVIL foundation still
carries out activities related to the
collection and recycling of mobile
telephony and communications
equipment, as well as the promotion
and environmental awareness of the
users of the said technologies; in 2006
it has collected 430 tonnes of waste.
ECOFIMÁTICA FOUNDATION
The ECOFIMÁTICA Foundation has
continued to carry out its nationwide
activities, involved in the collection and
recycling of office automation
equipment in the distribution channels
of the collaborating companies, to
which more and more collection spots
are added in both the Clean Spots and
the distribution sector thanks to the
signature of Collaboration agreements
with Local and Supramunicipal entities.
In 2006, 2006 tonnes of computer
waste have been collected.
ECOASIMELEC FOUNDATION
The ECOASIMELEC Foundation has
collected and recycled in 2006 more
than 3,000 tonnes of electronic waste,
so it has positioned itself as a reference
Integrated Management System for the
sectors of computing and IT,
photography, gaming machine, medical
equipment or surveillance and control
instruments, among many others. The
degree of representativity in some
sectors of ECOASIMELEC is highly
significative (60% of the devices
introduced in the national market),
electromedicine (75%) or gaming
machines (85%).

ECOPILAS FOUNDATION
The ECOPILAS Foundation, promoted
by ASIMELEC, was created on 1998
with the aim of designing and
implementing in Spain an Integrated
Management System of Batteries in
response to the new Directive of the
European Union, and gathers the main
producers and importers of batteries
operating in our country. While waiting
for the approval of a regulatory plan to
start operating, thanks to all these
years of theoretical experience the
Foundation will be highly operative
when the Royal Decree on the
Collection and Environmental
Management of Used Batteries and
Storage Batteries is approved, which is
planned for the last quarter of 2007.
During the transposition project,
ASIMELEC has intensified the
collaboration labour with the CEOE and
the Ministry of Environment to watch for
the respect and even the benefits of the
producers of batteries. In this sense,
ASIMELEC has made possible a
consensus regarding critic matters
concerning the sector such as
financing, and will continue
collaborating with the Ministry of
Environment so that the definitive text
of the Royal Decree incorporates most
of the considerations expressed,
making special emphasis in the
financial matters to be assumed by the
batteries producers in the light of the
new legislation.
TRAINING
ASIMELEC, has actively participated in
the project presented by the
FOUNDATION OF METAL SECTOR
FOR TRAINING, QUALIFICATION
AND EMPLOYMENT, addressed to
staff from the metal sector within the
framework of the Contract Program for
the Training of Staff during the year
2006/2007.
The said training plan has included the
satisfactory implementation of different
courses, open to all companies,
including the Training Plan forecasted
until April 2007, with closed training
actions for those members of the staff
who requested these courses, provided
that there are a minimum number of
participants per group.
In particular, during the year 2006-
2007, more than 192 courses were
carried out with an approximated
participation of 2,000 students. The
most popular courses were focused on
languages, prevention of risks at
heights and those related to the
installation of Digital Terrestrial
Television. However, several courses
have also been given in other areas,
such as computing, commercial skills,
negotiation, etc.
Finally, we must also state that
ASIMELEC deals and collaborates with
the companies in all areas related to
the management of the new training
model of bonus for the social security,
which is compatible with the
participation of companies from the
metal sector in the contract program,
which allows the companies to benefit
from the synergies produced.

On the other hand, and exceptionally,
ASIMELEC being aware of the training
needs of the companies immersed in a
more and more competitive
environment which progress very fast,
and trying to satisfy our associates and
to present and innovating program, has
considered to organize certain free
courses and seminars whose value and
price can not be financed by the social
funds, given the existent limitations in
relation to the bureaucratic
requirements, matters to discuss, cost
and subsidies, etc…
ASIMELEC would like to thank all
congratulating messages and
communications received for the
interesting training it has carried out.
Presentation of the Foundations at the WEEE Forum
PROMOTION
For one more year, the diverse
promotional actions carried out by
ASIMELEC have generated an
increase in the number of associates
which surpasses 215 direct members,
which together with the companies
associated to the Environmental
Foundations and the corporate
partners, add up more than 2,000
companies. At the same time, we must
highlight the incorporation to the
Association of the “Agrupación de
Tecnologías Locales” (ATEL).
ATEL, which groups the top seven
Spanish computer producers, decided
to join ASIMELEC by constituting its
own Working Commission, focused in
development tasks for the sectorial
promotion.
With the aim of improving the services
and activities offered by the
Association, the offices of Foreign
Trade and Projects have been created,
which is going to allow an improvement
in the information to the companies and
will facilitate their incorporation in the
presented projects as well as the
establishment of relations with other
countries for the creation of relations
and commercial bows, that benefit the
associates.
Thanks to both the effort showed by
ASIMELEC’s staff and the interest
demonstrated by the associates, the
fulfilment of the compromise for the
development, communication and
promotion of the sectors have been
possible, generating an increase of the
services and activities offered to the
companies.
Finally, the said effort has been
reflected in the media and we can
highlight the presence of the
Association, its Commissions and
Foundations, promoted through the 64
press releases and 6 press
conferences, resulting in 1319 impacts
in written press and on-line. At the
same time, ASIMELEC has informed its
collaborators and partners of the
projects, events, services and other
information through the three editions of
its three-monthly magazine called
ASIMELEC ACTUALIDAD (ASIMELEC
CURRENT AFFAIRS), with many
numbers published and distributed to
companies and institutions related to
the sectors represented by the
Association, 11 monthly publications,
called ASIMELEC INFORMA
(ASIMELEC INFORMS), addressed to
associated companies and 48 weekly
bulletins called, ASIMELEC SEMANAL
(ASIMELEC WEEKLY), as well as
different specific announcements on the
actions carried out.
