adopted the institutional
vision statement, “A Great
American Public
University.”
A great American public

university must be
supported by world class
processes.
Summer 1997 - review of

administrative processes
and structure began.
Findings
Poorly integrated processes were causing delays and

waste.
Most processes were incrementally designed and
implemented over years and were based more on
departmental and staff needs than customer needs.
Multiple applications, separate databases, and paper
processes limited efficiency and effectiveness.
An Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system could
serve as an enabler for dramatic improvements.
