PART I

a.1 a) State the permissib e stresses for M20 & M25 grade of concrete &

those for Mild Steel & HYSD steel. (4)

b) A ReC beam 250 mm wide and 500 mm in effective depth IS reinforced with 4 Nos. of 16 mm dia. Bars on the tension side. Assuming the grade of concrete to be M20 & HYDS steel, find the UDL that the beam can with

sland on a simply supported span of 4.5 M. (10)

c) A fixed beam of span 6 M is loaded with a U Dl of 40 KN I M over the entire span and it also carries a point load of 120 KN at a distance of 2M from the eft support. Analyse the beam & draw the SFO & SMD & a

diagram indicating the pattem of reinforcement. (10)

0.2 a) State the characteristics of ONE WAY & TWO WAY slabs (4)

b) A ReC column of size 300 mm x 500 mm is reinforced with 8 Nos. of 16 rnm dia, longitudinal reinforcement bars. Assuming M25 concrete & HYSD steel, find the load it can carry as a short column. State the height for which the given column can act as a Short Column. Design the links for the given column. (10)

c) A three span continuous beam ABeD. is simply supported at A & at D. The length of the span 'AS is 4M & it carries a UDL of 30 KN I M. The length of span Be is 3.5 M & it carries a point load of 70 KN at 1.5 M from B. The length of span CD is 5 M & it carries a central point load of 100KN. Analyse the beam using THEOREM Op nlREE MOMENTS & draw SFD
