A BILL
To modify the boundary of Petersburg National Battlefield
in the State of Virginia, and for other purposes.

1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-


2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
3 SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

4 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Petersburg National


5 Battlefield Boundary Modification Act’’.
6 SEC. 2. PETERSBURG NATIONAL BATTLEFIELD.

7 (a) BOUNDARY MODIFICATION.—


8 (1) IN GENERAL.—The boundary of Petersburg
9 National Battlefield is modified to include the land
10 generally depicted on the map entitled ‘‘Petersburg

1 National Battlefield Boundary Expansion’’, num-
2 bered 325/80,080, and dated June 2007.
3 (2) AVAILABILITY OF MAP.—The map described
4 in paragraph (1) shall be on file and available for in-
5 spection in the appropriate offices of the National
6 Park Service.
7 (3) ACQUISITION OF LAND.—The Secretary of
8 the Interior (referred to in this section as the ‘‘Sec-
9 retary’’) may acquire the land or interests in land
10 described in paragraph (1) from willing sellers only
11 by donation, purchase with donated or appropriated
12 funds, exchange, or transfer.
13 (4) ADMINISTRATION.—The Secretary shall ad-
14 minister any land or interests in land acquired under
15 this subsection as part of the Petersburg National
16 Battlefield in accordance with applicable laws (in-
17 cluding regulations).
18 (b) ADMINISTRATIVE JURISDICTION TRANSFER.—
19 (1) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary may transfer
20 to the Secretary of the Army administrative jurisdic-
21 tion over approximately 1.171 acres of land under
22 the jurisdiction of the Department of the Interior
23 within the boundary of the Petersburg National Bat-
24 tlefield, in exchange for the transfer by the Sec-
25 retary of the Army to the Secretary of administra-

1 tive jurisdiction over approximately 1.170 acres of
2 land under the jurisdiction of the Department of the
3 Army within the boundary of the Fort Lee Military
4 Reservation adjacent to the boundary of the Peters-
5 burg National Battlefield.
6 (2) MAP.—
7 (A) DESCRIPTION.—The land to be trans-
8 ferred under this subsection is depicted on the
9 map entitled ‘‘Petersburg National Battlefield
10 Proposed Transfer of Administrative Jurisdic-
11 tion’’, numbered 325/80,081, and dated October
12 2009.
13 (B) AVAILABILITY.—The map described in
14 subparagraph (A) shall be available for public
15 inspection in the appropriate offices of the Na-
16 tional Park Service.
17 (3) CONDITIONS OF TRANSFER.—

18 (A) NO REIMBURSEMENT OR CONSIDER-

19 ATION.—The transfers of administrative juris-


20 diction under paragraph (1) shall occur without
21 reimbursement or consideration.
22 (B) DEADLINE.—The Secretary and the
23 Secretary of the Army shall complete the trans-
24 fers of administrative jurisdiction authorized by
25 this subsection not later than 120 days after

1 the date on which funds are made available for
2 the transfers.
3 (C) MANAGEMENT.—The land transferred
4 to the Secretary under paragraph (1) shall be—
5 (i) included within the boundary of
6 the Petersburg National Battlefield; and
7 (ii) administered as part of the Pe-
8 tersburg National Battlefield in accordance
9 with applicable laws (including regula-
10 tions).
