GROUP 70 – 40 YEARS AS HAWAII’S ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN-BUILDERS

Honolulu (March 23, 2011) — Group 70 International celebrates 40 years of architectural

design in Hawaii. The firm was founded in Honolulu on April 1, 1971, as a “boutique”
design firm at the top of Fort Street Mall. Today, Group 70 International is the only fully
integrated design firm offering sustainable development, architecture, planning, interior design,
innovative technology and assets management services in Hawaii.

One of Honolulu’s largest architectural firms, Group 70 has grown to 16 principals and a staff of
55, occupying 4 floors at their corporate headquarters, the McCandless Building on Bethel
Street. Group 70 leads in Hawaii’s sustainable movement with 28 LEED Accredited
Professionals on staff.

With 40 years and over 80+ combined architectural, planning and interior design awards, Group
70 is consistently listed as one of Pacific Business News leading architectural firms in the state,
and ranked among Hawaii’s Top 250 Businesses.

Award winning projects include: The Hilton Grand Waikikian, Nanea Clubhouse, The Lodge at

Artwork designed with sustainable products. Artists include: Mary Babcock, Jodi
Endicott, Steve Jensen, Wend Kawabata, Steve Rosenthal, Jeff Roth, Maika’i
Tubbs, George Woollard.

Entertainment by Mango Season – Cool sounds of island soul and jazz, featuring
recording artists Curtis and Annie Kamiya.

Light refreshments will be served.

HMSP is the first sustainable design exhibit open to the public in downtown Honolulu. Group 70
International created this showroom to share the vision of sustainable stewardship. The name,
Hi‘ialoakuapapa, represents this mission - to exude a nurturing essence, as a mother to child,
fostering a tranquil and balanced union between man and environment.

The showroom features over 40 local distributors of sustainable products and state-or-the-art
technologies. The goal is to represent an integrated approach to sustainable practices,
products, technologies and services available in Hawai‘i. It also celebrates the synergy
between culture and the arts with science and technology through the dedication of space for
Maoli and local Hawai‘i artisans.
