Mathematics Olympiad
The School of Basic and Applied Sciences of Shobhit University organized two Mathematics Olympiads in the
month of February 2011. Shobhit University Mathematics Olympiad was held at DAV Senior Secondary
School, Pusa Road, New Delhi on February 14, 2011. In this Olympiad, approximately 600 students of 6
schools participated. Alok Bhatia Shobhit University Mathematics Olympiad was held on February 20, 2011 at
Meerut Campus of the University. In this Olympiad, around 500 students of 40 schools participated. This
initiative of the University aims at encouraging young students to learn more and motivating them to be
competitive in the present era.
? Pankaj Tripathi, Amarjeet Singh, Jatin Sharma, Dharmendra Kumar and Ranjit Singh authored a research article
entitled “Antiepileptic Activity of Petroleum Ether Extract of Butea Monosperma” and the same was presented in
ICMR and CSIR sponsored seminar BRMCR 2011 at PSIT Kanpur.
? Baljinder Singh and Dharmendra Kumar published a review article entitled “Antimicrobial Potential of
Polyherbo-mineral Formulation Jatyadi Taila - A Review” in International Journal of Research in Ayurveda and
Pharmacy, 2(1), 2011.

? Dr. Rekha Dixit, Dr. Shikha Jain and Dr. Maneesh Gupta participated in BioExcellence Workshop, “Whole genome
Expression Profiling using QPCR and Microarray Technology” at Gurgaon, sponsored by Life Discoveries Pvt. Ltd.
on February 5, 2011.
? Dr. Vaishali Poonia was awarded Ph.D. (Chemistry) degree in convocation at CCS University, Meerut on
February 12, 2011.
? Mr. Mukesh Maithani has been designated as a reviewer of reputed journal Talanta published by Elsevier.

? Workshop on “Applications of GIS and GPS Technologies in Agriculture and Forestry” will be held on
6th March 2011.
? Seminar and brainstorming session on “The Nonkilling Paradigm” Professor Glenn D. Paige, Founder-Center
for Global Nonkilling, USA and recipient of Lifetime Peacemaker Award, Peace Day Hawai‘i Award, Distinguished
Peace Leadership Award, requested Professor Anoop Swarup, Vice Chancellor, Shobhit University, Meerut for
establishing the first ever 'Center for Global Nonkilling' in an Indian University, with a mission to promote the change
towards the measurable goal of a killing-free world by infinite means open human creativity. In this regard the
University has initiated an academic initiative “Nonkilling Indian Forum” and will organize a ‘Seminar and
Brainstorming session’ on “The Nonkilling Paradigm” with a key note talk by Prof. (Dr.) Balwant Bhaneja, an
eminent international expert based in Canada on March 18, 2011 at Gandhi Darshan Gandhi Smriti and Darshan
Samiti New Delhi. As a Nonkilling Political Scientist Prof Balwant Bhaneja has written a book on "Quest for Gandhi:
A Nonkilling Journey". The book, has a deep desire to understand the meaning and relevance of Mohandas
