Summary
Front cover
-I think the image needs to be enlarged to fill the page, at the moment the page looks slightly on the
empty side. Perhaps try and inset an image that will reach the top and the bottom of the page.
-I don’t know if this is relevant but are all the music artists featured in the background of the cover
included in the magazine? I don’t know if it’s just me but I feel it is slightly misleading to your
audience.
-The black and white image as a front cover doesn’t really go with the pop theme, when I imagine pop
I see it as quite colourful and eye catching. Black and white images tend to be focused more on rock
or indie magazines.
-I do like your choice of clothing, hair and makeup on your artist, this relates well to the pop genre.
-Unsure about the position of your barcode, it seems too big and unrealistic. Could try placing it in the
bottom right hand corner or finding a more realistic one.
-The price, date and issue number looks too big for the page; usually these are featured near the
barcode or in a place that is not so visible to the eye. It seems slightly distracting.
-Good choice of font for your masthead fits well with the genre and gives the page elegance
-Consider the use of a different camera angle depending on how you wish to portray your artist. At the
minute she looks quite young and innocent as we are looking down on her. If you wish to portray her
as dominating and confident have a shot looking up to her.
-Your use of colour definitely reaches out the female target audience

Contents page
-As mentioned previously, re consider your choice of clothing, at the minute the figures in your
images look way to casual to be featured in a magazine, they look like ordinary people (I don’t know
if that is the look you wish to achieve)
-In terms of pages to offer, it seems a bit on the brief side, are these all of your magazines main selling
points or are they all of your pages? Perhaps vary the text sizing on this page to highlight the bigger
selling points of the magazine-this will draw your readers attention to things they will want to read
first . You could even divide you contents into sub categories to make it easier for the reader to find
what they wish to read.

Double Page spread

-I like the image effect you have gone for but take care in cutting around your artist (mostly around
the head) The messy cut gives your page an unprofessional look.
-Take care with the alignment of the page. It appears some of your columns are running into the other
section. Also consider smaller columns. At the minute the 2 columns on the page look slightly
unprofessional. You’ll probably find most magazine double page spreads have at least 3 columns to a
page.
