You don't have to be Christian to be American, there are millions of Americans that are

not Christian, and probably millions more that are Athiest, or oh! God forbid EVEN
WORSE!, Agnostic, but are still GOOD, law abiding citizens. Why should the beliefs of
those that call themselves Christian dictate how those that are not Christian live their
lives? How does a gay couple being married and having rights void what a Christian
stands for? How is being able to make medical decisions for your significant other in a
life threatening situation going to nullify YOUR BOND with your significant other? And
just exactly how does being gay constitute being a sin? Jesus never said being gay was a
sin, and isn't Jesus' teachings what Christianity is supposed to be based on? Jesus taught
tolerance of all people. References to homosexuality being immoral and a sin were made
in the Old Testament, which is actually the teachings of Judaism, the first five books of
Moses, which the Jews call the Torah.
The apostle Paul makes declarations of homosexual acts being immoral, and that immoral
offenders will not inherit the Kindgom of God,and while he also said that of thieves,
drunkards and slanderers, he did not specifically name murderers. Does that mean it's ok
to kill a person and still go to heaven, but if you love someone of the same sex, or steal a
pack of gum as a child, or say something false about another, you will be denied heaven?
Also FYI, Paul never met Jesus, except on the road to Damascus, AFTER JESUS WAS
RESURECTED. He never followed Jesus from town to town for periods of time, and
witnessed his teachings, and in fact was an outspoken opponent of Jesus’ and his
teachings, until after Jesus' death, when he began teaching his own ‘version’ of
Christianity.
Canada made homosexual marriage legal five years ago, and there is no evidence their
society has crumbled or their moral fabric deterioated. NO evidence the crime rate has
risen, church attendance dwindled, or the divorce rate for heterosexuals increased or
decreased due to homosexuals being permitted to marry.
I still have yet to hear one specific example of how homosexual marriage will affect the
core or inner circles of our society except for vague insinuations of our morality. What a
couple does in the privacy of their home is of no concern to anyone as long as they are
not hurting themselves or others in their recreations. Lewd and lascivious behavior in
public is against the law everywhere for everyone, would that suddenly change if
homosexuals were allowed to marry?
