Dear Parents,
STOP PRESS, STOP READING
and get to the FAT quick for the season ending
HS FINALE CONCERT!
5:30pm

If you are unable to attend this concert then there will still be a few other exciting opportunities this month like the IB
Art Exhibition and the IB Film Festival.

There are great things happening at ISM and I would like to share just a few recent developments, improvements and
success stories.
 You may have heard that our College acceptances this year have been extraordinarily successful. I am
particularly pleased that many of our students have been accepted at their “reach or dream” schools.
 You would have been contacted this week by email with the launch of our ISM Summer Intern Program. More
details in this bulletin.
 Mr. Toze recently wrote to the ISM Community about online summer school possibilities through an organization
called K12.
 We host IASAS Badminton, February 18-20.
 The Battle of the Bands which runs over the next two weekends raises annually a substantial amount of money
for ISM charities.
 ISM has just been announced as the host of the GIN (Global Issues Network) for February 2012.
 We are also hosting IASAS MUN and Rugby next year. Busy times for the ATAC and Activities departments!
 Senior Will VanKoughnett was awarded a National Merit Scholarship
 Superintendent David Toze, was awarded International School Superintendent of the Year.

This week we started our second round of MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) tests in English and Math for Grades 9
and 10 and these will be finished before the Easter Holiday. .

As you may remember, the MAP tests from the NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association – USA) provide us with helpful
data about the instructional levels of our students. As was done in the first semester, the results of the MAP tests will
be sent home in the coming weeks. Since this is the second round of tests, there will be the opportunity to compare
data from the first part of the year and track areas of growth.

Graduation 2011 is coming and we have been meeting with the Graduation Committee to plan a simple but eloquent
event. I took the opportunity to speak with the senior class on Wednesday and I reassured them that most, but not all,
the hard work has been done. They have been involved in a challenging program for two years and now they must stay
the course for the final three weeks of regular classes. I am convinced that they have been well prepared and will do
well. We are planning for a truly memorable Graduation on Tuesday May 31st to celebrate the achievements of the class
of 2011. I hope to see many of you at Graduation 2011!

Kind regards,

William R. S. Brown
High School Principal

FROM THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE:

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Re-Enrollment for SY2011-12

Re‐Enrollment information for RETURNING STUDENTS for SY2011‐12
Re‐Enrollment requirements for all returning students will include, minimally, submission of an updated Health Form
or Physical Form (depending on grade level) to the Clinic for a Clearance Signature and a Clearance Signature from the
Cashier’s Office on the Re‐Enrollment Form.

The Re‐Enrollment Form and other requested forms for each re‐enrolling student will be available by the beginning of
April  online  from  our  website  under  Admission  and  Re‐Enrollment  &  Withdrawal  or  at  the  Admission  Office  during
office hours (Monday to Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).   Parents may pick up a set of Re‐Enrollment Forms personally
or your child can come to the Admission Office and get the forms.  If you would like to have your driver or househelp
pick  up  the  forms,  please  give  them  a  letter  of  authorization  to  collect  the  Re‐Enrollment  Forms  for  your
child/children.

For STUDENTS NOT RETURNING next school year
If your child(ren) will not be returning to ISM for the 2011‐12 school year, please inform the Admission Office as soon
as  possible  if  you  have  not  already  done  so.     Parents  are  obliged  to  officially  inform  the  School  in  writing  on  a
WITHDRAWAL NOTIFICATION FORM, before the second Friday of May, if their children will be withdrawn.  Failure
to do so will lead to a deduction of US$1,000 from the Facilities Upgrade Deposit (FUD), in compensation for having
held  a  space  for  the  child  and  thus  preventing  the  School  from  offering  that  space  to  another  child  prior  to  the
summer holiday break.  The Withdrawal Notification Form can be obtained from the Admission Office or from the ISM
website under the Admission tab and then click on Re‐Enrollment & Withdrawal.

We  currently  have  very  few  families  indicating  that  they  will  not  be  returning  and  consequently  there  are  an  ever
growing number of applicants in a WAITPOOL for possible openings.  This is causing great distress and anxiety in those
families (and in the Admission Office).  If you are sure that your child will be leaving ISM, please submit a Withdrawal
Notification Form.  This will be a great help for our planning and to the many families waiting to be admitted to the
school.  Thank you.
