> Few architects can say their careers
started at age 11, but that was precisely
the case for Domingo Cambeiro, presi-
dent of DCC Architects. “I got the bug
when I was eight years old, and I had a
drafting service at age 11 where I would
draft and design mausoleums,” says
Cambeiro, a native of Cuba who came to
the United States in 1962 to continue his
career in architecture.
After earning his degree in 1970,

Cambeiro started the business with his
brother in Las Vegas, working at first
from his home where he built a drafting
table and started knocking on doors to
earn business. One of its first projects
was to design a juvenile detention
facility for Clark County. From that
point on, the firm continued working
in the Las Vegas market. In 1990, after
the passing of his brother, Cambeiro
continued to grow is portfolio in both
the public and private sectors.
Throughout the years, inventive
design, technical excellence and strong
project management skills have all been
reputation-earning qualities for the Las
Vegas-based firm. The result: roughly 70
