St. Matthew moves us forward this morning. He has introduced Jesus as the Messiah and NEXT WEEK’S READINGS - The appointed readings for next Sunday, February 6th, The

misunderstood and even misused. Today we hear the Beatitudes as Matthew gives account of the Grace Lutheran Church

Matthew’s Gospel blessed always refers to how God has acted, is acting, or will act for our good.
Matthew always connects God’s blessing with Jesus Himself. Jesus always stands at the center of www.gracelutheranlr.org

disciple. He fulfills the Law with His own perfect righteousness. God calls us to be disciples,
making us disciples because of what Jesus has done for us.

THE FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY P Almighty God, our maker and redeemer, we poor sinners confess unto You that we are
by nature sinful and unclean and that we have sinned against You by thought, word, and
deed. Wherefore we flee for refuge to Your infinite mercy, seeking and imploring Your
grace for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ.
C O most merciful God, who has given Your only-begotten Son to die for us, have
