The Saudi Arabia’s interest of the environmental issue is not new

as It stems mainly from our Islamic religion and Allah’s assignment
to reconstruct the earth. The basic governance system in the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia includes a specific article in this regard
(Article 32 of Chapter 5) which states “the kingdom is working
to preserve, protect and develop the environment as well as
preventing pollution affects”. Also, the general environmental
system has been issued by the decision of the Council of Ministers
No. (193) and the date 07/07/1422 H.

In this framework, the kingdom has been keen to introduce the

concept of preservation of the environment in order to achieve
sustainable development, and deepen that understanding at all
levels to ensure effective participation by different segments of
society in the maintenance and protection of the environment
and the establishment of Saudi Environment Society comes to
complement these efforts.
 Saudi Environmental Society

The Saudi Environmental Society (SENS) was founded as a national

non-profit society in 1427 AH according to a decision of the Ministry
of Social Affairs No. (34770), Under this decision, a number of missions
have been authorized to the society, mainly the development of
the Saudi environment and improving the residents’ conditions
in regions and provinces that suffer environmental problems by
working on creating sustainable development programs.

In addition to working on developing the voluntary action by creating

a broad base of volunteers and to contribute in strengthening the
role of the private sector to serve the environmental issues in the
areas of environmental protection and conservation of natural
resources and wildlife
 Vision
SENS to be by the end of 1433 a leading
non-for-profit organization, and a distinctive
environmental center which has an effective
contribution in the field of environmental
protection to achieve environmentally
sustainable development through genuine
partnership with all stakeholders in the Kingdom
of Saudi Arabia community, in accordance our
religion besides international environmental
standards.

Mission

To support the governmental effort by providing

advisory, research and educational services, in
partnership with public and the private sectors
in addition to the civil society organizations in
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to strengthen
cooperation and coordination among them in
the field of environmental protection to achieve
environmentally sustainable development in
accordance with international standards.
 Earth Day
Is a day agreed upon by most of the world as an environmental and
educational day, to discuss earth problems which bears us on itself.

Earth day launched as a result of the evolution of environmental awareness

all over the world and was celebrated for its first time in April 22, 1970 when
Senator Jay Lord Nelson” announced his idea.

it Aims:

- To address the causes and consequences of those problems

- to raise the awareness and the interest of our planet natural environment
- to attract the public attention toward the importance of environment and
conservation
- to highlight the environmental issue as one of the key issues in the world,
Earth day’s aim had been succeeded as it is the only opportunity which had
given to people and politicians to care about our environmental issue

ِEarthday Has achieved what is suppose to be reached After the growing of the
global interest of the environment, and in an attempt to reduce pollution and
environmental destruction which threaten the mankind future. To protect and
develop the environment, we must be aware enough of the environmental
concept. the environmental concept extends to include natural and social
environments including individuals, organizations, relationships, habits, social
traditions, values ,science, literature and arts.
 Earth Day

which is a group of natural and social systems correlating with each other
to create home to humans and other livings, from which they derive their
provision and performing their activities affecting it and affected by it.
through this definition we notice that the human is a key and common factor
in environmental systems and plays a major role in all what the different
environments may suffer from.

Finally :
individual has to take into account the maintenance of the environmental
health through his everyday practices which constitute his recognition of
many others entitlement to share his life on this planet. also, the following of
a life system with protecting the environment priority is important to less the
harm associated with many human activities that has burdened the earth by
dangers.
