TRANSLITERATIONS MAY VARY, BUT NOT OUR LOVE

QUESTION:
Hi brother Lew; I've been listening to a lot of new songs lately so I can compile a new list of anointed music to
listen to (I trashed all the Christian CD's I had! Yuk!). I ran across some names they use in the titles and
songs and I need your help with. I'm very cautious about non-native Hebrew people when it comes to their
understanding, learning and teaching of our Creator Yahuah! Where are they getting these names? I can only
guess it’s coming from a different language and hoping you may be able to clear this up for me when you have
time.

• Yashur’al
• Aluah
• Aluahim
• and such like these

REPLY:
As time goes on, we are seeing more English-lettered variations in alternate
transliterations for Hebrew words. Even those whose first language is Hebrew are
effected (over time) by changes in certain letters, such as the second letter BETH
sometimes being used as a modern letter “V”. The English letters V and W are
both derived from the Hebrew letter “U” or UAU.
(see video, “ALL YOU NEED IS U” on youtube, and research history of letters V
and W on Wikipedia.org, linked below).
The Chasidim (ultra-Orthodox form of Rabbinic Judaism) often transliterate
“MASHIACH” as “MOSHIACH”. This can have a slight jarring effect for us who
want to “sound” the words accurately, and there are subtle differences. Their
vowels may or may not be correct.
What can be annoying is the over-use of apostrophes or accent marks in the
English attempt to write the Hebrew words.
Some use extra letters thinking they are making it easier for new-comers.
“YAHUWDAH” sounds exactly like “YAHUDAH”, but still I prefer the more
simplified, knowing that in a century or two down the line there will be a little less
possibility for confusion.
The examples you have brought up are fine. The “Y” is more directly brought
across than our English letter “I” – since our “I” is derived from the IOTA, the
Greek attempt to transliterate the Hebrew letter YOD. Also, the AL rather than the
EL seems viable, since the Hebrew ALEF is used in many Hebrew words we
already bring out as an “A”, such as ABBA or ABRAHIM. The ending “-IM” rather
than “-AM” is a more accurate rendering for the plurality in Hebrew, since the
Hebrew letters are YOD-MEM.
KEEPING OUR EYE ON THE GOAL
It would be ideal if we could all become more unified in our use of the English
letters, but it is unlikely this will happen. We will be restored to the pure language
fully one day, and all of these developments we are seeing should be exciting to
see. But, often the differences are being exploited to cause divisions by those
who promote their personal preferences over others. This divisive attitude is not
serving the goals of Yahusha (or Yahushua), but rather the enemy, so we have to
overcome the division by accepting those who use variations of spelling. Some
would say this is compromise or even confusion; but the goal is not knowledge, it
is love. Transliterations may vary, and the worst we can be held accountable in
this is a bad accent. We have to do all we can to facilitate the restoration of the
lost tribes of YISRAEL to Yahuah’s Covenant, and become overcomers of every
obstacle put in our path toward that end, which is the mission we were given when
Yahusha lifted up into the clouds so long ago. Even when the dragon isn’t directly
the case for our division, we can produce our own stumbling-blocks through rivalry
and strife by putting others down; and that is caused by pride and jealousy. We
must lift up Yahusha, not our ambitions to dominate the sheep.
He is now working within us to fulfill His mission of restoring the lost tribes, so let’s
take on His perspective of all things, taking into account that we are all at different
places in the race. We all need to remember these words as they are being
fulfilled even now:

Zep 3:8-20: “Therefore wait for Me,” declares ‫יהוה‬, “until the day I rise up for
plunder. For My judgment is to gather nations, to assemble reigns, to
pour out on them My rage, all my burning wrath. For by the fire of My
jealousy all the earth shall be consumed.
“For then I shall turn unto the peoples a clean lip1, so that they all call on the
Name of ‫יהוה‬, to serve Him with one shoulder. Footnote: 1Or language.
“From beyond the rivers of Kush my worshippers, the daughter of My
dispersed ones, shall bring My offering.
“In that day you shall not be put to shame for any of your deeds in which
you have transgressed against Me, for then I shall remove from your
midst your proud exulting ones, and you shall no more be haughty in My
set-apart mountain.
“But I shall leave in your midst an oppressed and poor people, and they
shall trust in the Name of ‫יהוה‬.
“The remnant of Yisra’ĕl shall do no unrighteousness and speak no
falsehood1, nor is a tongue of deceit found in their mouth.
For they shall feed their flocks and lie down, with none to frighten them.”
Footnote: 1Rev. 14:5.
Shout for joy, O daughter of Tsiyon! Shout, O Yisra’ĕl! Be glad and rejoice
with all your heart, O daughter of Yerushalayim!
‫ יהוה‬has turned aside your judgments. He has faced your enemy. The
Sovereign of Yisra’ĕl, ‫יהוה‬, is in your midst1.
No longer need you fear evil. Footnote: 1See v. 17, Isa 12:6.
In that day it shall be said to Yerushalayim, “Do not fear, Tsiyon, do not let
your hands be weak.
“‫ יהוה‬your Elohim in your midst, is mighty to save.
He rejoices over you with joy, He is silent in His love, He rejoices over you
with singing.”
“I shall gather those who grieve about the appointed place, who are among
you, to whom its reproach is a burden.
“See, I am dealing with all those afflicting you at that time. And I shall save
the lame, and gather those who were cast out. And I shall give them for a
praise and for a name in all the earth where they were put to shame.
“At that time I shall bring you in, even at the time I gather you, for I shall give
you for a name, and for a praise, among all the peoples of the earth, when
I turn back your captivity before your eyes,” said ‫יהוה‬.” (translation: THE
SCRIPTURES, ISR)

We are waiting for you to gather us, our Master Yahuah!

Help us to love one another, knowing others who love you with stammering lips
are also under the same blood that delivers us all.
