Unit: Jump Rope and Fit-ball

Targeted Learning Results: The students will accomplish G2 of the learning results.
Grade Level: 6
Length of Period: 40 min
Number of Students: 10-12
Equipment: jump-rope, fit-balls, 2 cones, paper, tape
Class Objectives: The students will improve their jump-rope and fit-ball techniques

Jump Rope Techniques


Single Jump- jump when the rope hits the ground, no extra hops in between
Double jump- hop in between jumps
Backward swing- jump bringing rope behind.
Gallop – rocking back and forth on balls of feet, keeping same foot forward
Run- jump over rope with 1 leg, alternating legs
Jumping Jack- bringing legs together on the jump and then apart on the next jump, with
the rope going under your feet each time you jump.
Lunge-simultaneously lift one foot forward and the other foot backward; landing at the
same time. Then simultaneously bring both feet together; landing at the same time.
Repeat motions.
Bell- jump forward and back.
Skier- jump side to side.
Choice choose from any of the above jumps

Fit-ball Exercises
Hip Flexibility-
Hip Rocks- Use hips to rock side to side, then rock from front to back.

Hip Circles- Sitting on the fit-ball, rotate hips in circular motion. Switch directions.

Balance-
Seated leg lifts- Sitting on top of fit-ball with each hand on one side of fit-ball, lift one
leg straight up, with knee bent at 90 degree angle, alternate between legs to lift.

Sitting balance- Placing your butt toward the edge of the ball, gradually lift one foot at a
time and balance in a seated position without touching your hands to the ball.

Knee balance- Kneeling behind fit-ball, leaning forward resting chest and stomach on fit-
ball, placing hands on the other side of the fit-ball.

Shoulder Bridge
Laying on the ground with heels on top of fit-ball and arms lying by side of body, lift and
lower; lower back.

Ball Lift for Abs- Laying on the ground with arms and hands to the side on the floor. Fit-
ball is between legs that are up and knees are at a ninety degree angle.
Wall Squat- Place ball behind, against lower back with hands. Place fit-ball up against
the wall. The fit-ball is between you and the wall. Step out about one to two small steps
and lower down to a 90 degree angle in the knees then rise back up and repeat.
