PATROL UPDATE IMPORTANT DATES: MCA TESTING DATES

The Black team has taken over
duties until Friday, April 29.
Permission slips for the Patrol Picnic
(May 10th) and ValleyFair (June 1st)
went home with patrols last week.
Please return the permission slips
and money by the dates listed on
the form.

Fifth graders will be taking three different
MCA tests this spring: reading, math, and
science. It is very important that students
are present at school these days and get
plenty of rest the night before. We are
confident that students will do well!!

 WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO?
In math this week, we finished Unit 11,
which explored the ideas of ratio and proportion.
This was a challenging unit and I appreciate those
students who chose to do Extra Credit work
and/or come to me for individual help. This
shows great commitment to their learning!
Please remember that you can look at your child’s
grade records through Family Access at any time.
Homework grades, test grades, and any missing
assignments can all be found there.
We also continued with Exhibition this
week! Groups worked hard try to prepare their
display boards and PowerPoint presentations.
They also completed a plan for action on how to
help others with their issue. We are really looking
forward to Exhibition Day next Friday, April 29th!
We are excited to see all of their hard work come
together! Some groups set Exhibition homework
for themselves, ask your student if they have
weekend Exhibition work.
We worked hard this week, completing
the MCA reading test. Students will finish up MCA
Math and Science testing the first two weeks of
May.
We enjoyed a visit from students and
staff at Sunrise Park Middle School. It was a nice
opportunity to hear about middle school from
some pros. See the box at right for details about
6th Grade Welcome Night.

CAMP IS COMING!!
Be on the lookout for a VERY IMPORTANT
letter coming home next week regarding
Camp Widji. This letter will also have your
remaining balance - which is due by May 9th.

Sunrise Park and Central Middle
Schools.
GRADUATION MEETING
Are you interested in helping out with the
5th Grade Graduation in June? If so, we
would like to invite you to a planning
meeting on Tuesday, May 3. This meeting
will start at 4:00pm in room 114. We look
forward to seeing you there and getting
your help to celebrate all the wonderful
things that fifth graders have done this
We love our Art Monsters!! year! Please let your child’s teacher know if
you plan on attending.
SCHOOL CARNIVAL – MAY 20
Our class is collecting items for the basket
fundraiser the entire month of April. Our
classroom was assigned the theme
WHITE BEAR SPIRIT!
Please donate any new or family friendly items
that fit this theme. Donations of cash, gift cards,
or checks made out to MIPTO will also be
accepted. $1.00 tickets will be sold the night of
the carnival and winning tickets will be drawn
for each basket at the end of the night.
