Rotring 600 pencil.

There are three basic variations in the Rotring 600 pencils, these are.
Series 1 to 3 Hexagonal barrel with knurled grip. This has both retractable (gold coloured end) and non retractable end. Date 1988.
Series 4 and 5 Hexagonal barrel with a smooth conical grip, retractable end.
Series 6 Hexagonal barrel with knurled part then a smooth conical end, more like the old type clutch pencil for “thick leads”.
Series 7 Hexagonal barrel with angled grip (Newton). Dated 2005
All of the pencils below have been taken from Rotring Catalogues or seen on the internet, eBay etc.
The pencils appear to have been made in Germany and Japan at various times.

There are three basic variations in the Rotring 600 fountain pens, these are.
Series 1, 1A Hexagonal barrel with knurled grip and barrel and with metal or gold nibs. “Rotring 600” inscription. Nib size indicator.
Dated 1990 ish.
Series 2, 2A Hexagonal barrel with NO knurling and with metal or gold nibs. No inscription. No nib indicator. Dated 1994 to 2000?
Series 7 Hexagonal barrel with angled grip (Newton). Dated 2005
All of the fountain pens below have been taken from Rotring Catalogues or seen on the internet, eBay etc.

The series 2 comes with EF, F, M, OM, B, OB, BB, L, nib widths.
Series 1 uses friction to keep the cap on.
Series 2 has a “clipping” system to hold the cap on.
There is a transitional pen between series 1 and 2.

Rotring Fountain Pen Converter


Rotring model 251300 converter for Rotring fountain pens. Approximately 2-7/8" long.

Rotring Models that will accept this converter: 400, 600, 700, 900, Altro, Alpha, Core, Esprit (not the mini's), Freeway, Impact, Initial, original
Newton series, New Orleans, Rive, Rivette, Skynn.

Does not fit the newest Newton (2005), Rotring mini pens, or the Lissabon

Series 1 Hexagonal barrel, knurled grip, “Rotring 600” inscription. This has both retractable (gold coloured end) and non retractable
end. Colour coded identity ring. Dated 1990 ish.
Series 2 not used to tie the three ballpoints in with the pencils.
Series 3 Hexagonal barrel, knurled grip, no inscription. Colour coded identity ring.
Series 4 Hexagonal barrel with a smooth conical grip as series 4 pencil.
Series 5 and 6 Not used
Series 7 Hexagonal barrel with an angled grip, similar to Series 7 pencil, known as the Newton. Dated 2005

There are three basic variations in the Rotring 600 trio pen, these are.
Series 1 Hexagonal barrel, knurled grip, “Rotring 600” inscription. Black/ red ballpoint and 0.7mm pencil. Dated 1990 ish.
Series 2 & 3 not used to tie in with the pencils.
Series 4 Hexagonal barrel with a smooth conical grip as series 4 pencil. Black/ red ballpoint and 0.7mm pencil.
Series 5 and 6 Not used.
Series 7 Hexagonal barrel with an angled grip, similar to Series 7 pencil, known as the Newton. Black/ red ballpoint, 0.5mm pencil.
Dated 2005?
