Acknowledgement is an art: one can make a simple expression of gratitude. I feel immense
pleasure in presenting this project report. I got this opportunity to express my gratitude towards
our honorable Director “Prof. Sunil Kumar” for providing all the resources available for
completing this project successfully. I owe special gratitude to my project in charge “Mrs.
Tripti Bardhwal” for guiding and giving me valuable suggestions in regard of project so that I
make the best use of her expertise. Without her help this project would not have taken this shape.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude towards NTPC and its employees for providing me
all the essential information and also for helping me out throughout the project by their

PREFACE
This training report is being submitted in partial for the fulfilment of requirement of MBA
training in the project assigned under training of human resource management was “HR audit
and PMS” which also covered the following aspect such as welfare of not only the employee but
Management of human resource has changed markedly during the last three decades. Earlier,
there was a change from scientific management to the human relations approach, and at present
the trend is towards behavioral approach which involves an interdisciplinary, scientific study of
human behavior.
In general, productivity forms a measure of the output of goods and services to the input of labor,
material and machinery. The more productive a sector, the better its competitive position will be,
as its units cost will be lower. With the increase in productivity, earnings will improve, raising
the standards of living. Improving productivity does not mean working harder. Rather, its means
working effectively. It means getting more out of what is put in it is doing better with what one
has.
At NTPC, working under the practical atmosphere where there are schedules, deadlines,
clearances and various problems associated with the employees I got to know the more realistic
side of HR.

Being an HR is more than just record keeping of the employees and there data. There is much
more to that. There I got to know a very rigorous process of performance appraisal. The auditors
from outside and inside both posted a report with the help of which we were able to make an
action plan. Our team included of four members so we divided the four stations of northern
region. I was basically involved in the auditing and planning for NTPC- Rihand. The other three
