Environment Killers
There are many environmental issues today do to human activity. Using daily technology
such as cars and hairspray can put people at risk. In my opinion, pollution is the most severe and
the matter that can become the silent killer. A topic that can wait for help is acid rain. In a
perfect world everything can change if everyone uses cleaner fuels and recycles but the world is
not receiving everyone¶s help. Solutions with these matters are not a one man job. This needs
the help of billions and billions of people to help. The situation hat would need urgent help
personally is pollution and climate changes or global warming. A problem that isn¶t as vital
There are three types of pollution which are land, air, and water pollution. They are all
essential to human survival and activity. Cars are one of the leading causes of air pollution.
China, United States, Russia, Mexico, and Japan are the world leaders in air pollution. Pollution
resources consist of chemical plants, coal-fired power plants, nuclear waste disposal activity,
large livestock farms, metals production factories, plastics factories, etc. Pollution can also be
the consequence of a natural disaster. For example, hurricanes often involve water
contamination from sewage, and petrochemical spills from shattered boats or automobiles. Some
sources of pollution, like nuclear power plants or oil tankers, can construct common and
potentially hazardous releases when accidents transpire. These intoxications and killers can
cause hurtful damage. Air pollution can kill many organisms including humans. Ozone pollution
can cause respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, throat inflammation, chest pain, and
congestion. Water pollution causes approximately 14,000 deaths per day, due to contamination
of drinking water by untreated sewage in developing countries. Oil spills can cause skin

irritations and rashes. Older people are majorly exposed to diseases caused by air pollution.
Pollution has been found to be present widely in the environment. Biomagnification describes
situations where toxins, such as heavy metals, may pass through trophic levels, becoming
exponentially more concentrated in the process. Carbon dioxide causes ocean acidification. The
greenhouse gases leads to global warming which affects ecosystems in many ways. Broad
species can out compete native species and reduce biodiversity. Nitrogen oxides are removed
from the air by rain and fertilize land which can change the species work of ecosystems. Smog
and haze can reduce the amount of sunlight received by plants to carry out photosynthesis and
leads to the production of tropospheric ozone which damages plants. Soil can become infertile
and unusable for plants. This will affect other organisms in the food web. Sulphur dioxide and
nitrogen oxides can cause acid rain which lowers the pH value of soil.
Solutions can be made for this very large dilemma but they can¶t be done with one
person. Use cast iron pans instead of nonstick. To avoid chemicals leaching into food, go easy on
processed, canned or fast foods and never microwave plastic. Read about Bisphenol A, a toxic
food-can lining ingredient associated with birth defects. Buy organic, or eat vegetables and fruit.
Seal outdoor wooden structures. Leave your shoes at the door. This cuts down on dust-bound
pollutants in the home. Avoid perfume, cologne and products with added fragrance. Search for
personal care products that are fragrance-free, or check the products you're already using. Buy
products with natural fibers, like cotton and wool, that are naturally fire resistant. Eat low-
mercury fish like tilapia & pollock, rather than high-mercury choices like tuna & swordfish. We
can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by increasing the use of energy efficient technologies and
Global Warming is a much studied issue of the environment. Many scientists have been
researching global warming and the rapid changes in temperature. One of the first things
scientists learned is that there are several greenhouse gases responsible for warming, and humans
produce them in a variety of ways. Most come from the burning of fossil fuels in cars, factories
and electricity production. The gas responsible for the most warming is carbon dioxide. Other
contributors include methane released from landfills and agriculture, nitrous oxide from
fertilizers, gases used for refrigeration and industrial processes, and the loss of forests that would
otherwise store carbon dioxide. The effects of global warming are very harsh and impactful.
High temperatures are causing a broad range of changes. Sea levels are rising due to thermal
expansion of the ocean, in addition to melting of land ice. Patterns of precipitation are changing.
Changes in temperature and precipitation patterns increase the frequency, duration, and intensity
of other extreme weather events, such as floods, droughts, heat waves, and tornadoes. Other
effects of global warming include higher or lower agricultural crops, glacial retreat, reduced
summer stream flows, species extinctions. As a further effect of global warming, diseases like
malaria are returning into areas where they have been extinguished earlier.
Acid rain is a rain or any other form of precipitation that is unusually acidic, i.e. elevated
levels of hydrogen ions (low pH). It can have harmful effects on plants, aquatic animals, and
infrastructure through the process of wet deposition. Acid rain is caused by emissions of sulfur
dioxide and nitrogen oxides which react with the water molecules in the atmosphere to produce
acids. Governments have made efforts since the 1970s to reduce the release of sulfur dioxide into
the atmosphere with positive results. Nitrogen oxides can also be produced naturally by lightning
