1. DMGE_4_L1 can only be inserted to BG-30B system with XIO30_16 or

XIO30Q_1&4. BG-30B of configured as ADM-1/4 don't support the DMGE_4_L1.
2. Reminder: in BG20B the only possible data card module (Dslot) is- MGE_1_L1, and
Dslot in BG20B has only 4 VC4s.

1. GFP- Generic framing procedure.

2. MDIX- Medium dependent interface crossover (“X”). a female RJ-45 port connection The
change is only in 1,2,3,6 (Rx-Tx). Coordinates itself to work with straight through cable (no
matter if DTE 2 DTE).
3. Using VCAT – allows frames to arrived on different traces, Different delay compensation for the
traffic that arrived from different paths tells the buffer to hold the for 48ms or until its
overloaded, then it releases the frame (FIFO).
4. Auto Negotiation- is an Ethernet procedure by which two connected devices choose common
transmission parameters, such as speed and duplex mode and flow control as well. In this process,
the connected devices first share their capabilities as for these parameters and then choose the
fastest transmission mode they both support. Both of the devices must operate in the same auto
negotiation mode (enable/disable).

1. Auto negotiation- The standards for 1000BASE-T (4-pair Cat5) and 1000BASE-TX (2-pair Cat6)
require autonegotiation to be always present and enabled (for GbE its mandatory). Other than
speed and duplex mode, autonegotiation is used to communicate the port type (single port or
multiport) and the master-slave parameters, which standard is used (between IEEE 802.3 and
IEEE 802.9)
Multiport devices have higher priority to become master than single port devices. If both devices
are multiport devices, the one with higher speed rate becomes the master.

1. VCG1 and VCG2 share 16 E1s.

VCG3 and VCG4 share 16 E1s.
2. You cannot allocate 16 E1s to VCG1 and additional E1s to VCG2…
VCG1 and VCG2 are one group sharing 16 E1s, and VCG3 and VCG4 share another 16 E1s.

1. Switching capacity 3Gbps

2. When supported in ADM-1/4 system (XIO30_1/4) in v10.1:
1. 4 x VC4 – EOS bandwidth.

3. When Supported in ADM-16 and XIO30Q_1&4 systems in V10:

1. 16 x VC4 - EOS
2. Support VC-12/VC-3/VC-4 VCAT per channel with following maximum size per VCG :
1. VC-12: 0 - 63;
2. VC-3: 0 – 48
3. VC-4: 0 - 14

1. The Data cards have not only the SW HW but also they have the matrix allocation for the WAN
ports (16x VC4).
2. LAN port-> SW -> WAN port (the LAN ports and the WAN ports share the same SW).
3. Switch capacity - 3Gbps -HW RESTRICTION: it means – we used 1 ETY port (sum=1Gbps)
and we want to give a full rate WAN port (EoS=7 x VC4 from the matrix and 1G from the SW
capacity, up until now we used 2 ports of the switch, each one equals to 1G, summary of 2G
already in use from the SW capacity), we have 1Gbps more for the rest of the ports (ETY+EoS).
4. LAG- up to 4 members per LAG.
5. RSTP – can be implemented between NEs of the same version.(v4->v4).
6. Full interoperability with ESW, BG-20B_L2, FE_L12 (L2 CARD) & MET_L1 – data cards in BG-40,
µLan - old product of ECI that supported FE ports.
