Letter from Chairman
I am honored to welcome you to the City of Sunrise, one of the most progressive and
vibrant cities in South Florida. We are home to more than 90,000 residents, host to
several million national and international visitors each year and home to more Fortune
500 companies than nearly any other city in the State!
While speaking with one of our new members recently, I asked him to tell me why he
chose to spend his limited resources to join our Chamber. His response to me was that
“when the economy is as tough as it is now, we need the resources of the Chamber more
than ever.”
He was right! When things in our economy are booming…Chamber membership is icing
on the cake. When things are weak and struggling like they are today, Chamber member-
ship is a necessity!
You’ll see our Chamber is doing more things than ever before to protect and to help
small businesses thrive. Founded in 1975, our Chamber has experienced many of the
same challenges facing many businesses today. Through hard work and the efforts of
many, we have weathered yet another year of economic uncertainty and still continue to
grow.
As I humbly sit as Chairman of the Board of Directors for this Chamber and a voting
member of Sunrise’s Economic Development Advisory Board, we are working closely
with the City’s leadership to encourage new companies to make our city their destination.
Despite these tough times, Sunrise continues to grow. Under great leadership, the citi-
zenry and businesses alike are becoming more active and involved. This movement is
leading to healthy competition, advances in technology, and a strong sense of together-
ness that is second to none.
Our mission continues to focus our efforts to help improve business relations through
networking, education and marketing. Our membership is diverse, strong, and involved.
Through the Chamber, our members and non-members alike are presented with numerous
chances each month to showcase their businesses, give back to the community, and work
together for a common purpose.
Through all of these efforts we are making a difference in our community. If you haven’t
joined the Chamber, I urge you to join today and be a part of the grass roots efforts to im-

Taking care of your skin
Your skin is very important. Not only is it the single most visible part of
your body, but it is usually considered a reflection of a person’s charac-
ter. It is also the foundation upon which any beauty enhancement builds
upon. Even extreme, invasive corrections, such as facial surgery, breast
augmentation, botox or juvederm will be limited in their improvement
of appearance if the skin is unhealthy. With this in mind, we have put
together a series of suggestions to help you understand your skin, and
to look and feel your best. Probably the largest contributor to poor skin
health is stress, so we have included some specific stress management
ideas as well. Not everybody is the same, so consider the tips as a list of
possibilities to explore. Many of them are inexpensive, and some even fun.
Healthy Skin Tips:
1. Include in your routines, daily maintenance treatments in the morning
and at night, using a quality mild cleanser that will not strip the skin oils,
a quality balancing toner, and a quality, light moisturizer. Quality is of the
essence. It is pointless to take the time to do this regime without quality
products.
2. If you are 20 years or older, it is a good idea to use an anti-oxidant and
peptide serum every night at bedtime.
3. If you are 30 years or older, it is a good idea to use an anti-oxidant
based Vitamin-C serum at night, and a peptide serum every morning
before your moisturizer. It is easier to prevent skin damage than it is to
repair it, and your skin needs the help to maintain collagen.
4. Have a facial at least every month. Consider your skin care goals
when selecting a facial, some goals require a lot more intensive a
treatment than others.
5. Apply soy wax or similar softening and moisturizing wax to sturdier
skin areas like elbows and knuckles. It will help to blend these areas
better, make them softer, and your body will have a sleeker and
smoother appeal.
6. Small quantities of sun are great for you, but wear a high protec-
tion factor sunscreen on your face always while outdoors. Avoid sun
exposure totally after exfoliations, allergies, skin abrasions, burns,
breakouts, or anything that thins or scratches your skin. You will be
more prone to pigmentation damage.
7. Bathe with a natural loofah without scrubbing your skin with force.
8. Soak in natural sea salts at least weekly. Do not substitute sea salt
with regular salt. They are not the same, and regular salt can be
dangerous.
9. Never go to sleep with your makeup on.
10. Drink a lot of water.
11. Do not consume alcohol in excess. It is said that alcohol interferes
with the circulation’s ability to deliver nutrients to your body cells,
and remove toxins. Regardless, excess consumption of alcohol works
against the beauty that emanates from inside you.
12. Do not smoke, recent studies are showing that tobacco smoke affects
skin condition not only from the outside, but also from the inside of your
body. It is estimated that the level of skin aging as a result of tobacco
smoking can be as high as 30% over normal aging. For perspective, that
means that your skin at age 50 could look to be the skin of someone
age 70.

Letter from the Mayor
Sunrise City Commission
The City of Sunrise operates under a Commission/Manager form of government, led by a Mayor and four City Com-
missioners who are elected to four-year terms on a non-partisan basis. In March of each year, one Commissioner
is selected to serve as Deputy Mayor, while another is chosen as Assistant Deputy Mayor. It is the Commission’s
responsibility to set policy, establish laws and adopt the City’s budget. The Commission-appointed City Manager
oversees the day-to-day operations of Sunrise.
The Mayor and Commission strive to represent the best interests of Sunrise, and continually seek ways to better meet
the expectations of the citizens they serve.
The City of Sunrise is represented by Mayor Michael J. Ryan and Commissioners Sheila D. Alu, Donald K. Rosen,
Joseph A. Scuotto and Larry Sofield.

Recycling in Sunrise
Sunrise residents may participate in an “All-in-One” recycling system (known as single-stream recycling) where recyclable items no longer
have to be sorted. Items may be placed curbside in a City provided bin during your scheduled recycling pickup day.
Collection Guidelines
Acceptable Materials
• Newspapers, inserts, catalogs, magazines, junk mail, office paper, soft-covered books, file folders, soda cartons and crushed boxes from
items such as cereal, tissues, rice and pasta (Plastic packaging material must first be removed from newspaper)
• Cardboard from non-food items such as shipping boxes (All corrugated cardboard must be broken down, folded or cut into the same size as
newspapers, or included with newspapers)
• Plastic containers (narrow necks only) such as bottles (without caps or lids) and milk, water, detergent and shampoo containers (rinsed out)
• Glass food and beverage containers, milk/juice cartons and drink boxes (rinsed out)
• Aluminum and steel - food and beverage containers
Unacceptable Materials
• Plastic bags and wrap, plastic toys
• Blue glass, window or auto glass, mirrors, glass cookware, bake ware and ceramics, light bulbs
• Paint, pesticides and other hazardous waste; medical waste and pharmaceuticals
• Aerosol cans, gas cylinders, tanks, and other flammables
• Rocks, dirt, flower pots, aluminum foil or pie pans, Styrofoam, batteries
• Pizza boxes, carbon paper, and electronic waste.
All recyclables should be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled pick-up day, but no earlier than 7:00 p.m. the previous evening. Bins
may be placed outside even if they are half full.
Holiday Service
The City provides residential recycling collection service on every holiday except Christmas day.
Recycling Bins
If your home is not equipped with residential recycling bins; you may call (954) 746-3232 to request them. Please be sure to provide your
name, address and phone number. Bins are normally delivered to a resident’s home one to two weeks after their request has been reviewed.
There is no charge for the bins, limit (2) two per household.

W hen looking for an e-waste recycler you need to look for a one stop shop. ARC Bro-
ward’s Electronics Recycling Service has the experience in business and recycling
to meet all of your needs. For small and large businesses and governmental entities ARC
Broward provides hassle-free business solutions: worry-free removal, recovery, and equip-
ment disposal services for used electronics equipment including computers, servers, monitors,
printers, and other related IT equipment.
At ARC Broward’s Electronics Recycling Service, your electronic scrap goes through an evolution. The journey begins with the intact elec-
tronic device as it travels through our processing center where a rebirth process occurs. Component level separation, sorting and packaging
produce product to be reused in the manufacturing industry. Safe disposal of toxins from electronic waste is critical because the health of
people and the environment depend on it. ARC Broward’s Electronics Recycling Service uses care in selecting vendors to partner with for
the de-manufacturing and recycling of the electronics you place in our hands. We work with these partners to track materials through the end
of the recycling process to ensure that the disposal of toxins is completed safely.
To protect your confidential information, ARC Broward offers both hard disk erasure and physical destruction of your hard drive.
We take care of your confidential data so that you can rest assured that your intellectual property will be protected. Most companies find
that they have to replace their IT equipment every few years to stay current with changing business requirements and technological advance-
ments. At our processing center, we use a Hard Drive degausser where sensitive data is entirely erased. We also offer physical destruction
of your hard drive, if that is your preference.

Seven Bridges at Springtree Golf Club opens in Sunrise
September 2010 marked the opening of the City’s fully renovated 67-acre golf facility, formerly known as
Springtree Golf Club. Over the course of a year, McCumber Golf, Inc. - led by former PGA pro Mark Mc-
Cumber - completely remodeled the Club’s greens, tees and fairways. In addition, a new irrigation system
was installed and drainage repairs were made.
To complement its new look, the facility has a new name, Seven Bridges at Springtree Golf Club - a nod
to the course’s unique new architectural features. The course now offers enhanced play for golfers of all
levels, and is the perfect complement to Seven Bridges’ elegantly appointed 7,000-square-foot club-
house. Breakfast and lunch are served in the course-view restaurant, and catering is available for special
events.
Seven Bridges at Springtree provides a renewed focus on serving the residents and businesses of Sun-
rise. On Friday, October 8, the Club opened its doors for a Grand Opening Tournament to benefit the

Fun-raising to help meet community needs
The not-for-profit City of Sunrise Foundation is dedicated

to improving the quality of life in our community. Since its
inception in 2008, the Foundation has helped meet the funding
needs of a variety of local non-profit organizations, including Kids In Distress, Family Central, the Cooperative Feed-
ing Program, the Coalition to End Homelessness, the Aging and Disability Resource Center, ARC Broward and the
Greater Sunrise Chamber of Commerce.
The Foundation’s Board of Directors is comprised of some of the most respected business leaders in South Florida:
