What is Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA )?

A professional designation given by the CFA® Institute, USA (formerly


known as the Association for Investment Management and Research -
AIMR) that measures the competence and integrity of financial analysts.
Candidates are required to pass three levels of exams covering areas such as
accounting, economics, ethics, money management and security analysis.

CFA® is a graduate-level program offered by CFA® institute, USA.


The candidate is required to study for and pass three levels exams in a sequential order

and meet other requirements to become the CFA charter.

A Chartered Financial Analyst's (CFA ) salary will
obviously vary based upon job type, years of experience,
employer type, and various other factors. The best way to
get a feel for a Chartered Financial Analyst's salary is to
use averages within those broad fields not taking into
account company size, experience, skills, degree, or
location.Using information gathered from payscale.com,
the range of median based upon job type is from $61,209
for a corporate financial analyst to $145,820 for a chief
financial officer. In India the payscales range from Rs. 4
lakhs for a financial analyst to Rs. 8.25 lakhs for senior financial analyst.

How to become a CFA®?

Following are the steps for becoming the CFA Charter
1. Meet the eligibility criteria
Meet the Program Entrance
One has to meet any one of the following requirements: Eligibility criteria
Have a bachelor's (or equivalent) degree
OR
Be in the final year of your bachelor's degree program at the time of registration
OR
Have four years of qualified, professional work experience
OR
Have a combination of work and college experience that totals at least four years (Note: Summer, part-
time, and internship positions do not qualify.)
2. Enroll with IMS Proschool and prepare for the exam
Study for the Program with

3. Enroll and Register with the CFA Institute USA
CFA® Program is offered by CFA® Institute, USA. Therefore one has to enroll and register online with
them on their website https://www.cfainstitute.org.
First time candidates are required to pay an enrollment fee along
with the exam registration fee for Level I exam. The enrolment fee Register with CFA® Institute,
is a one time fee, the candidates have to pay only the exam USA
registration fee subsequently.

Registration with the CFA usually opens about 11 months before each exam. The Level I exam is held in
June and December each year whereas Level II and Level III exams are conducted in June only.
It is recommended that the candidates register for only one exam at a time, and must wait to receive
their exam results before registering for the next exam.
4. Apply for Membership after clearing Level 1 exam
After clearing the Level I exam you have to apply for membership Apply for Membership after

to CFA Institute, USA . In case you already have four years of clearing Level 1 exam
acceptable professional work experience you may be considered for
regular membership (required to receive your CFA® charter). If you have less then 48 months of
qualified work experience, you may be considered for affiliate membership.
5. Passing the examinations: You need to pass Level I, Level II and
Level III exams successfully. Pass all 3 Levels of exam

Fulfill the four year of acceptable work experience criteria as

7. CFA® Charterholder Membership

Application Form (attached to this prospectus) along with the following documents to IMS Proschool
Centre (Mumbai/Pune) where you would like to attend the program.
i. Two passport size colour photographs.
ii. Self-attested photocopies of the highest qualification till date.
iii. The payment has to be made by Demand Draft. The DD should be drawn in favour of
“IMS Learning Resources Pvt Ltd.” payable in Mumbai.
iv. Those applying for waivers, need to attach the supporting documents for the waiver
